I'm sort of resurrecting a dead horse here I know . . . this thread felt like the best place to share a horror story. I quickly skimmed through the thread to see if it had already been posted in here . . and it had.

Since 2.4 There are a lot of us, offering crafting as a service for people looking to get the 4* i110 equipment.

We all know the materials are prohibitively expensive for the average player, and the gear isn't great. Typically, any 4* Gear can be crafted by many of us crafters on Ultros, for a fee of 500K/HQ. and that really answers OP's question.

Last night, I had one of these:

My bad experiences included the time someone asked me to make him a set of three star jewelry for a fee, and he'd "provide the mats" for all the items. I went, okay, you want five 3* crafts? That's not so bad, here's the price, but I'll need all HQ mats. He said okay, fair, and gave me all raw/base materials. I went from thinking I needed to do 5x 3* crafts to needing to do 20x 3* crafts, all needing HQ, including some pretty hard ones (for me at the time). Took me an hour and a half, and it was not fun, and the fee wasn't even that great (certainly not enough to compensate me for the time spent...).
Only instead f asking for all HQ mats, I said HQ Mats would help, and got a few HQ (Wolfram Squares and Cashmere Cloth) and the rest were NQ Raw Materials, for a full set of Wootz gear. Took me an hour and a half to synth everything, and then the person didn't even have the gil we agreed upon. (500K/item, x6 = 3Mil.)

Then the person tells me they need to buy more gil and can't afford it until Wednesday.

So, What's the Proper Etiquette when you realise your customer buys gil (Which is a breach of ToS) Report them, or don't report them? I'm sure reporting them and telling the world as I appear to be doing is bad for business . . . but if they are buying gil I don't think they are reading this forums XD

I would say report him. Take a screenshot. Why go through the trouble of reporting him? Lets use your circumstance for example. Say you got your 3 mil from all those synths which took iirc an hour and a half. If that guy gets banned for any reason, SE confiscates that gil they may look on his records and you may find the gil you recieved from him gone as well. This is common with gil sellers and not surprised if it would happen the same with those who bought the gil. And you would be out of luck because SE would not reimburse you. This is one reason why im cautious about selling very high cost items.

I say report him. And also, If the person doesnt come up with the agreed amount, take their items and sell it. Simple as that

I'd recommend keeping the items and reporting them. After all, giving them the items in exchange for currency you know was acquired in violation of the ToS is likely also a violation of the ToS, so you certainly can't proceed with the sale. Morality states that you have to keep the items you crafted using someone else's mats and sell them on the MB for massive profit. After reporting the person, of course, so they can't get upset at you for going against your agreement (the one they already went against by not having the money) since they'll be banned.

I guess they can get upset, but since they'll be banned, who cares?

I appreciate the responses! I did report the little gilbuyer, but after 2 (almost 3) days, no GM's responded and the person came up with the gil. They aren't banned, so I went through with it. You would think since my GM report said the DAY they were buying gil they would have stopped it if it was happening. Maybe the person was getting a loan from an FC member or something *shrugs* I also blogged about it on the loestone, and there's a lot of different points of view / ideas about why somebody might do that.

Selling i would have over doubled my profits though XD Definitely gave it some thoguht.

I was quick to disseminate the gil from my account, just in case. Buying up my FC3's so I can craft my intricate Silver Brocades for Supra/Weaver Mastery Book II. Melded my WVR up to 4* as well.

Disappointing. SE's anti-RMT tactics are terrible. Their tactics appear to be: "assure everyone they are doing something about it." That's it, no actual action, just empty reassurances. And then people wonder why RMT ads are drastically increasing in frequency over time...

I see most of ppl say that SE bans the sellers not the buyers, and normally they ban in batch, not individually.

The buyers are the problem, not the sellers. The sellers will exist as long as there are buyers no matter what SE does. SE just bans accounts, and it's trivial for the RMT to buy a new account and make back the money the account cost in a very short time.

The only way to truly stop RMT is to target the buyers.

Well, IMO banning the buyers would be like opening a pandora box But to be honest, no one would admit they are banned for buying gil on the forum, so we cannot know what really happened anyway.

You guys dont realize how many gilbuyers/gil sellers and bots on top of every other report they have on their hands. Eventually the guy will get what comes to him. SE has so many hours a day and so many people on staff to take care of things

Gil buyers get banned too, someone from my FC just got banned recently

well, i certainly is interesting. If the people within my FC weren't aware before, we've had multiple discussions about it in the FC chat, and I've been razzed for providing services for RMT by some of the other senior members of our FC over this. Any of our junior members who I might be unsure of, at least know it's against the rules, and know that those of us at the top have a strong opinion about people buying gil. Hopefully if any of them do (which I doubt) they know they aren't welcome . . . and leave.
