    You gotta make the most of it. I've only got 1 novus but 2 animus and 1 Atma. I'm not complaining at all.

    If you want a challenge and you want the best gear, why are you even doing the relic anyway? Go do coil.

    If you don't mind a long grind and a weapon that can actually grow with you over time, do the relic.

    If you want neither of those, you're only option left is the tomestone weapon at the time.

    Those are our options and frankly, that's a lot of options for the same level of weapon. If you want some combination of the above, like maybe you like the glow of relics (me) but also want a challenge (you), well then suck it up and deal with it. You're choosing to do something that isn't a real option. What do you expect?

    I gave up on the Nexus Light part. I'm very happy with just having a Diamond weapon (I just hate doing dungeons and Primals now. They're too easy and boring and are just a mindless tome farm when they could be something more).

    It's sad that the entire relic quest got relegated to keeping old content alive instead of being an actual quest with actual unique challenges, regardless if Coil is a thing, if anything the game needs even more challenges than just a single locked out "raid" divided in some mini dungeons and 4 total boss fights every 6 months. Sure there are other ways to get better weapons and you can ignore the quest entirely, but it still doesn't stop it from just being underwhelming and half baked.

    To make matters worse, chances are some people doing the low level dungeons just for that item they need are jumping into Duty Finder (not pre-made) and trying to speed run or skip mobs just to get it over and done with as fast as possible, making new players or players levelling up alts miss out on experience points :/

    What people seem to think is that the Relic Quest has to appeal specifically to them? If anything, what needs to be encouraged out of the developers is not a change in the Relic Questline. Those adjustments are always slated to ease with time. What needs to be done is more alternative paths to up-to-date gear and weaponry. Which, honestly, having all of 3 choices in this matter (Dungeon due to currency gear being locked down in them, Relic, and Primal) really does limit the overall variety of play-styles acceptable.

    This is where the problem truly lies - not the typical complaints of difficulty and tedium surrounding around relics. That sort of ordeal appeals to a demographic of players and some of them have spoken up here already. So with that group appealed to (to varying degrees as relic/zodiac quests progress) there needs be more alternatives.

    Yup, pretty much. I also understand the reasoning behind them wanting a way to promote old content aside from new player bonuses and roulettes, but it's like they don't account for premades. Just look at Nexus, back when it started it was mostly preformed full parties doing their bonus trials, sure you still got people who queue by themselves and that might help new players. I guess that's really what they're going for, for every 10 preformed parties there's bound to be one or two actual new players getting helped by other people on the quest queuing alone and that's all they care about when designing these quests. Though like you said not everyone will be as patient and will rush new players, I guess it can't be helped because of the nature of modern MMOs of rushing everyone to endgame, and pull everything speedruns are basically the norm in this game. Can't blame anyone either really, especially after the 100th time running the same dungeons over and over, the faster it's over the better.

    Still, even if that part is arguably fine to an extent, I'd rather see more Chimera and Hydra like challenges added instead of the quests always involving the same old rehashed content. The very first relic quest got this balance between existing content and new challenges right, I don't understand why they couldn't build on that afterwards.

    Coil is easy too. The only "hard" part is getting 8 people together. So no, "go do coil" doesnt fix anything sadly.

    Why are some ppl ok with only 4 end game boss's every 6 months? I dont see how making relic have its own unique content is a bad idea?

    they need to re-evaluate the relic grind not as a time sink but as a challenge. 2.0 was the best since it required a perfect balance of dungeon running, crafting (to make the host weapons), rng (for the materia's needed) and challenge (titan hm). I feel the relic quests now are only to fill some of the lesser used content rather than actually creating a challenge or tangible goal. Way too much rng even if it is 11% drop rate in dungeon, if reddit is correct. What's worse is that in the future they plan to bring back the ilvl sync to these dungeons so now its going to take even longer for those who do it then.

    They need to return to pure skill based challenges in the relic grind and not time sinks and rng. Something like beat t5 and t9 without the echo and you'll get the drop upon the clear. These are both challenging and will provide instant gratification of you skill upon completion with no rng bs. This may either take a while or no time at all and for those who breeze through it can always level up another relic since it is far more attainable in a more reasonable amount of time.
