Beggars can't be choosers. Tanking is the least preferred role in almost any games. Any incentive to play it benefits everyone equally.

The sheer fact that people are complaining about this instead of playing a tank speaks for itself. People just don't want to play it.

Exactly this.
If you want the lion or bear mounts, start tanking. If you want healers to get a mount then the answer is to also start tanking, if all healers start going tank SE will have to add a reward to start healing
