SE made that game already. It's called FFXI and it's still playable. I personally didn't like that game for some of the very reasons you do. Different strokes for different folks.I would rather have a visible looking for group flag and /search system similar to FFXI than an Ifrit battle.
I would rather have a lag-free client-side UI and RMT then a server-side UI and little RMT
I would rather take a WHM tele-taxi than deal with Anima and Aethryte Stones
I would rather grind in 6 man parties on mobs of my my groups choice then do leve's.
I would rather have smaller zones than giant ones that aren't varied
I would rather have the camera direction keys on the arrow keys then IJKL
I would rather have an auction house than a market ward
I would rather have a primary job and a sub job, than 20 job skills on a single job
I would rather have a trinity than a hodge podge
All in all, I would rather the dev's focus on these simple things that would make all the difference in the world than new NM's, summer events, and "instanced dungeons"
Oh, and WHERE IS THE BARD?
