It should be possible to trade most cash shop items in game. Changing money into gil isn't a big deal, it's the other way around that's a problem.

Real money is being used to purchase a digital item and they're exchanging it for in-game currency. That is literally the same thing but the other way around.
They're BOTH the problem.
Cash shop items on the market and therefore available for in-game currency works fine in Eve. It's not like you can win FFXIV with gil no matter how much you buy.
Gil isn't useless though. It speeds many things up immensely and/or reduces reliance on RNG. Some content is straight up gil-gated.
-Materia for relics
-Materia for crafting equipment
-Demimateria
-Crafting mats
-Housing
-Buying stuff, in general
-Some melded stuff is actually preferable to regular equips. (e.g. Melded Ruby accessories for tanks)
...etc.
Someone else did it, so it must be good xD. Also while making comparisons to EVE can be fun, EVE is a different beast, especially economically, you can actually destroy and steal PLEX.
Gil can earn you BiS items - can argue the retainers are also p2w thanks to ventures (imo they should remove ventures from bought retainers), but this is a clear gil buying opportunity. Using real money to get BiS items is p2w in a way I think Yoshida will have a hard time shouting "no p2w" in a crowd and not be a bit dishonest.
Yeah :P like I said to the other person, it is definitely not the safest way to buy gil, but it is better than getting banned lol (RMT)

Let SE sell ilvl150 equipments in the cash shop then. Unskilled people with ilvl150 will still not be able to clear final coil anyway.
Saying that it works for other games is not a valid argument here since FF14 is supposed to have a different model.
You say that, yet people still pay and sell carries. How do those people afford those carries sometimes multiple runs each costing 1m+? They RMT. This is no different. But people are still free to do what they want with their money and in a form it is RMT but it's legal. That is not me endorsing it but your point is pretty invalid. People will still always buy RMT from third parties. In a way this is hurting RMT and benefiting SE because it hurts the RMT sales. I do hope it doesnt turn into a Pay to Win game but I can also see why some people would prefer to sell these (looking at you, nexus/zodiac.)
Behold, the Botanist of war!
I haven't bought a single thing from RMT and am not a legacy player. I have 20m+ gil in my account through sheer hard work in-game.You say that, yet people still pay and sell carries. Bringing the point of cash shop items for gil to combat RMT is good but it means SE changing their stance all together. RMT is pay to win. Cash shop from SE that will do the same result is also pay to win. If the games initial structure revolved around this then it's all okay. People are complaining now that SE suddenly seemed to changed direction.
