I'm finally going to speak up (Cash shop 2.45)

The reason why I started playing Final fantasy XIV was because I came from another game (Mabinogi, Vindictus) which were Free to play games heavy with cash shop.
They sold all kinds of things most were stat boosters(exp, gold) boosters, but due to the nature of both of these games most of the common items were Gachapons that gave you
equipment, or Dye Amps (things you buy from the cash shop to dye your clothes).

Mabinogi Korea (which I played a little bit) even sold full sets of gear on the cash shop.

Of course Mabinogi and Vindictus are Free to Play MMORPGs so putting elements like dyes and vanity gear into the cash shops is ok since that is their only way of making money.

I started FFXIV because It was a Pay to Play game where all dyes, and gear were craftable and in the game. If you wanted your character to look nice it wasn't behind a paywall.
I'm not a big dungeoneer, or raider so for me I pretty much live for Glamours and being able to dress my character up the way I want, being able to freely choose dye for my character without worry about a paywall or having to
pour extra cash into vanity items.
Even when we didn't have a Glamour system I would find myself just fooling around dressing up my character in fun outfits and its what I loved the most about FFXIV compared to other games.
Show your Vanity (Or finding myself spending hours looking at other players amazing ideas and outfits)

I fear FFXIV will start to slowly go down this path no longer adding things in game for crafters to make vanity wise (such as spring dress or dye) and all this content will get pushed into the cash shop for optional purchase.

It started a while ago, and it doesn't seem to be going "slowly" to me, at all.

Now that I think about it these dyes were added pretty fast into the cash shop, its only been open for a few months now.

I just fear they will add more and more colors into the shop which could be things added into the game via crafting.
I also hope vanity items that people really want, 2 in the future (and me included!) Wont get added to the shop, and vanity gear and dyes
will continue to be added into the game.

Been open for quite a while longer than a few months. The vanity items that came since then haven't been added to the cash shop. Remember: Buying Fantasias and Retainers were the first cash shop items introduced a long time ago.

I'm of the exact same mind. I've played many, many free to play games, and a few buy to play games. FFXIV is the first subscription MMO I've played, and when I started I thought it was an awesome thing that there was no cash shop with actual content in it. Fantasia did irk me a little, as the last MMO I played (which was run by a much smaller, less successful company than SE) allowed you to change everything about your character with a somewhat small sum of in-game currency, or with a coupon that could be gotten every 3 days, so I don't really understand why that couldn't be done in-game here, especially since it was in a buy to play game.

Yes! In mabinogi(using this F2P game as an example again) they had a crafting system as well however 70% of the recipes you could craft you had to buy via the gachapons.
Mabinogi's clothing system was so huge that they needed to add a new system to catalog it all in the game. (testing the feature out for myself in Korea before I quit)

After playing so many F2P games, coming to final fantasy XIV and seeing all vanity items are Craftable in game, It was like a dream come true.
And after the transition from 1.0 -> into 2.0 not only could you craft any item but now you could dye your gear too! And it wasn't the wonky system from mabniogi, vindictus
where you had to struggle to get your dyes.


FFXIV, you just buy the dye you want or craft it and boom your done!
