well maybe certain gear has certain caps.. and since onion gear / classes on the final fantasy series are allways about reaching a cap ant then BOOM uber onion stuff, maybe the onion set will blossom with materia stacking of 99 times lol

    you never know...

But what if the R50 gear you made into materia and put it on a R1 gear takes the higher rank

They already said you can't put a High rank Materia on a Low rank piece of gear.

Can you materialize the equipment that has materia attached already? 1 time only? or can do multiple times?
    何度でもマテリア化できます。
You can materialize as much <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< THIS!!!!!!
    What they meant was this.

    1) You wear a glove and it turns into materia.
    2) You put the materia on a new glove
    3) You wear that new glove and it turns into materia.
    4) You put that new materia on a new glove.
    Repeat steps 3 and 4

Sounds interesting. My question is how will materia found by DoL classes fit into the equation. Is it going to be the same exact materia from changing equipment? Hopefully they give DoL a purpose and have rare materia only obtained from mining, fishing, and botany.

Right but what should be stressed, and I could have sworn the mentioned this before, is that when you convert a piece of gear into materia it doesn't take any of the stats of the materia slotted into the gear. Someone brought up a while ago that they figured you would be able to exploit that and just get +9999 everything materia.

They don't gather materia. Disciples of Land have one role, gathering the catalyst used to attach materia. Correct me if I'm wrong though but I'm 99.9% sure that's what they've said.

I think it allows for (semi) customization of gear (I say semi, bc certain stats will be important for certain jobs so everyone will use those) which is good, but I think it is a less desirable solution then having lots of different gear (similar to the FFXI system). Plus, gear swapping is less functional/stressed in this game, so not sure how tailoring your gear will work out. Sounds like it will just raise the floor for everybody (i.e., it will just make players stronger overall but not really allow for distinct pieces since you will generally be wearing one piece most of the time). Although you could argue that one could create sets of gear with different material depending on the specific role they needed (either via job or class). So if I was say low manning an event on CON, I might not use magic accuracy set because I will want to be able to take more hits so I might use my HP build set so I survive longer. Will see how long it takes to make materia and how strong the materia is...
It's been stated materia wont be just for stats alone traits also I.E stuff like DBL atk

They also said you earn the risk of losing your materia by trying to stack too so you wont see anyone with +9999 stats

you could have some one with +9999 but that would be a really lucky person like 1 in 23456789qwertyu2345678hgfd (i added letters to the ratio number because it makes it less probable to happen.lol)
