WAR is high risk-fun high reward
PLD is low risk-fun same reward.

Chose paladin cos of it wields sword and shield. Warrior doesn't feel as tanky to me with the axe only. Still, i like playing warrior sometimes, but nothing beats my beloved paladin![]()
Same, but I started from the Paladin sideThis is my first MMO, and I had no idea about what a Tank even was.
When I was choosing which class to play, I picked the one that I thought would do most damage, so picked the one with the massive Battleaxe.
How wrong I was...
But in all fairness, I definitely made the right choice. I play both Paladin and Warrior at end game and Warrior just feels more dynamic with a bit more thought to it than Paladin. Just my thoughts but each to their own![]()

Glad to know I wasnt the only one who did this![]()

Paladins are better for defending and taking hits than warriors, they have a greater chance of nullifying a hit due to their shields, they have good recast times on their buffs, which are really nice, (hallowed ground, screw you holmgang), and they have an attack to conserve their mp in order to keep tanking with flash and such, as well as this, they can stun within an instant, or pacify if they block and then use shield swipe. Warriors however, have more health than a paladin to compensate for the fact that they don't nullify as much damage, and as a result, they, are equally as good as paladins in tanking, however, unlike a paladin which is meant to take the hits easily and weaken the majority of the hits, a warrior rely's more on taking the hits for more damage and recovering the lost health through various abilities like bloodbath.
So in the end, warriors and paladins are equally good tanks, but with different tactics and playstyles.

However I just chose gladiator over marauder not based on the tactics or anything, I chose gladiator just because I like swords more than axes x)
Both are great, viable tanks. So I play both.

I found the Bulwark vs. Foresight section of your breakdown is a little misleading. It's true that block (and therefore Bulwark) are only effective against physical damage. However, Foresight only works on physical damage as well. It increases your Defense by 20%, and has no effect whatsoever on your Magic Defense.
Pretty much how I feel about it. I'm more familiar with Paladin cooldown rotations so I'm far more comfortable as a PLD for endgame content. I have no problem tearing up dungeons on Warrior for giggles, though. ^^

A little bit ago i edited my original post that I requoted for the sake of clarity, and the point you brought up was part of that. That section no longer makes any mention of physical damage at all.
The main point that I was getting at was that WAR and PLD have approximately the same survivability, with the main differences being how they accomplish this.
