Just Curious why SE never took a vote from players on what we want in Cash Shop?

While you and I disagree on one aspect of the former game's focus (economy), the sentiment is the same. I've been watching my days tick down until it runs out less than a week from now, and I'm just not compelled to pull the trigger on renewing. Even Warlords being mostly meh hasn't made me seriously consider coming back to XIV. Loading up the cash shop the way they are, using development time we already paid for, is a slap in the face. There's a lot of things that have turned me off over the last year or so, and it's sad, because YoshiP had it on such an upswing.

I'll be deciding on the sub myself soon once the renewal comes up, a little after 2.45 hits. I don't trust them with the cash shop, and I'm bored with the treadmill/atma/arguing.

The game is already a treadmill with dungeon only aspect.

Cash shop has nothing to do with that, You don't have to purchase anything and if you are mad cause people go and purchase things its their choice shouldn't get mad at people spending their money they earn themselves which didn't come out of your pockets on stuff, You don't want to spend money that's fine but to bully and threaten SE to unsub because you don't like it is sad way to get your way and not just you anyone who says that.

I agree on treadmill direction but not the cash shop thing, cash shop wont affect you in anyway, you can earn the items or you can buy them.

Also who says they will put items in cash shop that are even in the game or lesson the amount of items we get in game because of cash shop.

Its speculation and rumors spread and people flip out for nothing.

Ragnarok Online had a subscription fee and even had a cash shop which was called Kafra Shop the game was popular and lasted a long time.

One more thing I think the idea of the cash shop is basically, if they do a event that nobody was around for and they make new events they can put the stuff from those events into cash shop while they make new stuff.

If someone misses the event and they never had that same event again aka if they decided to not do lightning returns again then they could do throw it up.

I'm glad they didn't ask for a vote. Often I find people spend their votes without fully thinking it through and knowing what they truly want. For example, if I had to choose between exp-boosts and cool armour skins (same stats as another piece of gear) on the store, I'd probably vote exp boosts, expecting the armour, since it's probably already been planned or made, will later be made available via an in-game trial. But a lot of other people would instantly denounce a +100% 1hr exp boost as a hellish step towards P2W and then that same armour will no longer be made available by any way besides forking over some more real cash.

Right now they have neither on the store. No boosts and no cooler-than-most armour. Just some novelty items. And in this case I really respect the amount of restraint SE is showing. Yet despite their intentions and efforts, this cash-shop is still getting flak because of a stigma that was attached to other cash-shops 5+ years ago. Only the worst devs will abuse it for true P2W these days. Those games are not successful.

Personally I can't speculate about what they might have added if we voted but based on what is there right now. I would vote like this:

Yes to:
Fantasia
Name Change
Server Change
Past Seasonal Event items

No to:
Mounts
Minions
and anything else that is on there exclusive to the cash shop and not available to earn in game.

I don't get why ppl keeping bring up the p2w argument on a thread that I started and isn't anything about p2w. It's really about exclusivity in the cash shop that I am against. Anymore p2w comments brought up on this thread and I am just simply going to ignore them. I only care about the stuff that we have so far and if some of it might not be there if we had the right to vote it not to.
