Futur of Final Fantasy 14?

out of curiosity, i have decided to start a thread about what people feel the futur will be?

recently they did announce heavenward, great, but at the same time, some feature added to the game and announcement made outside the game have worried me.

Cash shop, eternal bonding optional cash shop, triple triad application for IOs giving rare card for the counter part in FF14...

- what do you see coming for the futur of FF14?
- are you trusting them or not?
- do feel the game is slowly going into the wrong direction or the right one?
- do you see yourslef still there for the second anniversary?

well all of this for know what people feel about the game. we are not there for debate, just give you thought about the futur.

At the moment i dont know, if you ask me this a few month ago i would say i see a very good future from one of the best mmo´s.

I trusted them, but at the moment i dont.

Since the last Liveletter i only logged in two times and i think about a break, dont know.

I think the future is bright. They now have a solid player base to work with.

3.0 will keep the new-to-mmo player in mind which I think is not necessary. I hope the direction will go to the more experienced player in the future. The no base class for DRK gives me hope.

I'm fine with a cash shop since I won't use it and I need nothing from it to progress. I feel sorry for those who play the game for event items, minions, shiny stuffs etc. SE needs to understand there is a huge group which approches the game like that. The moment I need to buy stuff to progress, I quit. I don't think SE will ever do so, but it's SE.

As far as development, we can talk when they finally drop PS3 support which will happen when enough people have upgraded to a PS4 (or PC). I recon SE keeps a very close eye on the $$ from PS3 subs. When it drops below X, they'll drop it.

- what do you see coming for the futur of FF14?
After Heavensward, they will likely start developing certain things like Condos for people who can't afford ward housing. I also see them adding a lot to Gold Saucer, including Triple Triad Tournaments for each data center via an instance of sorts so they can do it cross-world. They will likely also add swimming as well, since they were considering both swimming and flight, but decided on flight first. If they don't add Samurai or Musketeer in Heavensward, they will definitely be adding it sometime after, since they have been subtly throwing information about them here and there. There will also likely be a lot more casual, mid-core content in comparison to PVP and hardcore content in the short term, since from what I've seen, when new features are added, they have to add casual-ish implementations to them for enough people to complete them. (With the exception of ACTUAL HARDCORE CONTENT, which some people don't think is still hardcore anymore due to echo, etc. But it is. Extremes and Coil will always be hardcore. They don't plan to replace the current coil system with the new story version of it, it will be added to the side of it.)

Yes, very.

- do feel the game is slowly going into the wrong direction or the right one?
No. (It doesn't matter either way) World of Warcraft also has a cash shop with minions and pets, so if you think a cash shop will deter me, you would be mistaken. Especially when some free to plays do cash shop right with no stat-boosting things. TERA for instance. I still prefer pay to play because it keeps out a lot of free to play trolls, so I won't be going to a game like TERA.

Yes. I will be buying heavensward as soon as it's available for pre-order as well, and will probably buy its Collector's Edition (Digital if possible) if it has one.

They are mischevious imp-like creatures, so it's possible that the Moogle Delivery service sometimes peeks into letters and somehow re-seals them with magicks of a sort.

More new stuff, hopefully more depth in the systems and gameplay to feel less like baby steps in the big MMO world until you jump on a real thing.

I do trust them. They made an awesome job at saving the game for 2.0, I really trust them for the next big step, paving their way in the MMO world.

Also, the team IS listening to the players, and not only JP ones. It's not that visible mostly because NA/EU people tend to complain about everything so really important stuff is hard to find under the masses of pointless whining

Good direction. Marketing decisions are an other thing, but the game is going the right way. More transparency would be perfect.

I most probably will. Unless 3.0 is a big disappointment, because then I would quit in under a month probably. If they catch me as much as 2.0 caught me, 4.0 will come before I'm bored.

I think that he should do his job instead of reading my letters. But that may just be me.

Generally, just a larger variety of content. Their development schedule seems to have finally recovered (mostly) from the s---storm of the relaunch, so I think with the expansion and onward, we'll see a bigger variety of content & systems added to the game, less reliance on things that are easy to rush out when your schedule's out of whack (FATEs & revisited content).

- are you trusting them or not?
Kind of. I trusted Yoshi a lot more when he first took over. He's become more and more of a PR figurehead, IMO. I don't really distrust the company, as a whole, I've just learned to take what they say with a grain of salt and assume anything Yoshi, in particular, says is probably not what it seems. Between his increasing PR vibe and the poor translation/proofreading/follow-up they do, I just take everything he says as a vague, malleable outline until we see the real deal.

- do feel the game is slowly going into the wrong direction or the right one?
I reject the premise of the question. The game is going in a few different directions, and its pendulums swing from patch to patch. I don't have a major problem with anything I've seen so far. There are directions I'd prefer for some things: more mid-tier content, more horizontal progression & character build options, less features locked behind seemingly unrelated things (shouldn't need a house to do chocobo stuff). But they're all just choices they could make, and some of them I expect they eventually will.

Probably. Depends more on what happens outside the game than it does on what happens with the game, I think.

I'm egotistical enough to be pretty confident the mog reads everything I write. I'm not expecting any responses, though.

More content for casuals, softcores, and hardcores. More attempts to resolve queue issues, more intricate battles, and more battle options.

Overall, yes

I think the right one for the most part. Are there certain things I don't like? Of course. But for the most part I think the direction is fine, but only time will tell. I also think if we're vocal enough, they will adapt (even if some people in the forums might find vocal people a little annoying, how else are they supposed to know how players feel...)

I hope so

Yes. I also think the mog plays with my attachments and that's the reason why if I try to quickly detach items from multiple letters in a row, it often won't - the mog is busy putting them back!

What do you see coming for the future of FF14?
I see much more horizontal progression, and much more time consuming raids. Hildabrand quest line 100% hoping for this, and definitely at least six new classes. Plus so much more if 2.x is any indication of HOW MUCH they have planned

Are you trusting them or not?
100% They haven't really done anything, with the exception of cash for items (I will eventually buy the cash shop items when i have the "gil" in real life but only for, even more, support of the game), wrong in my eye's.

Do you feel the game is slowly going in the wrong direction or the correct one?
I think the game is going in the correct direction, in the sense that Yoshida-san and team have explained multiple times that this 1-50 stuff is purely training. Things in 3.0 will change, and hopefully make it just ever-so-slightly more challenging

Do you see yourself still here for the second anniversary?
Absolutely, the ONLY thing that will remove me from this game is an "Abyssea" style expansion.
