    They already said they're looking at different ways to handle raid drops in 3.0 from what I recall. Given that they said there would be a normal and hard mode for raids moving forward I'm willing to bet raids will shift to a raid tome that will simply drop more tomes in the hard mode. I could be wrong but that's my theory at the moment.

    I agree that with 3.0 coming the issue is going to get bigger if they don't change the system. I'm hoping they have enough sense to think of that.

    I think you get the pattern here. We've gotten three god damn DRG chests already. Please, please RNG have mercy on our group and let us get more gear we can use.

    Oh right...did I mention no one in our group plays DRG?

    I think a simple suggestion could be this.

    VIT
    STR
    DEX
    MND
    INT

    Each loot that drops would come in a variety of two so STR/VIT, INT/VIT, DEX/INT, STR/MND etc etc.

    Basically what this woudl do is turn 1 loot into 4 and offer a better means of spreading the wealth between players rather than have a 1/7 chance of needing anda 6/7 of greed.

    This would create a 4/9 chance of loot dropping for x job, of course this is keeping the new jobs out of mind atm but basically the idea is this.

    It would kinda work the same way as the "relic" armor that now drops in the latest dungeons except it would be a bit more specific so one size wouldn't fit all.

    The hope of the idea would be that raids that are focused on beating the content now wouldn't have to rely heavily on RNG and a chance that the jobs they are playing get something from x dungeon are increased.

    So let's say they do this instead.

    Using coil as an example there are 4 turns honestly speaking I haven't done final coil nor the 2nd stage yet but if I had to adjust the loot pool I would try the following:

    Coil 1=Head/earrings/necklace
    Coil2=Hands/ring/waist
    Coil3=Legs/Feet/bracelet
    Coil4=Body/weapon

    In terms of what the chest can drop I"d suggest the following:
    Coil1= 1 head, 2 accessories
    Coil2=1 hand, 2 ring or waist
    Coil3=1 leg and either 1/1 feet/bracelet or 2 feet/bracelet
    Coil4=1 body and 1 weapon.

    In terms of the variation I'd suggest this:
    Body=VIT/MND, INT/STR, DEX/VIT, INT/DEX, STR/MND

    Basically the body could drop in 5 variation wherein if the VIT/MND dropped it means PLD/WAR/SCH/WHM could lot on it and then obtain the body piece, if the VIT/DEX dropped means PLD/WAR/NIN/BRD could lot on it. This way there is a balance of sorts in fairness over the variations of said piece that can drop since if there was only the set VIT/MND, INT/STR and just DEX it would mean that one job set obtains an unfair advantage when it comes to lotting on gear.

    Basically the general idea behind this is to crate less greed and more need for raid groups since it can be detrimental towards progression is a raid group does content and the jobs they use don't drop what they need causing their progression to be hindered because of it.

    Another issue comes down to buying poetic gear and then the unluckiness of x gear that you just bought dropping within a dungeon. I can imagine that being a bit demoralizing because you just spent a weekly cap point on gear that now dropped in a dungeon and if no one can use it it goes to waste.

    With the upcoming addition of more classes, if they follow different stat methods or the same it does make the stretch of gear even greater since it means more competition.

    While they seem against allowing crafters to have an influence over the higher tier gear I honestly wouldn't see the problem if perhaps they allowed gear like hm XI's "cursed" gear wherein you have to obtain the pieces within the dungeon or better yet when you complete a raid you get a scroll that is for your job and then through the proper gear you can obtain that raid set.

    Maybe we can call this the 3rd method of gearing, Raid, tomes and then "cursed" gear that is gained through melding the proper stats onto a piece of gear and then upgrading it to raid potential. It would offer crafters a bit of leverage in being useful to DOW/DOM more within them being the main focus since the scrolls that drop would only be in the lockout raid and the demand will only be as great as the amount of people doing the dungeon.

    it would give raiders a reason to do other content like spiritbonding materia they need to gain that extra piece of high lv item level gear and it could also give the dev team an excuse to tune the content to be harder.

    I've been doing the first half of FCoB for 6 weeks without seeing a single DRG gear, including STR accessories... May I please have one of your chestpiece please?
