Would you like to see Samurai as a tank or DPS? Come vote!

I made a quick poll to see what people's thoughts and feelings are for if/when they add Samurai as a playable job and which role it should fill.

The dev team started to it seems develop the planning for the SAM job as a tank but Yoshi in his mind thinks SAM is a DD. Quite honestly what I get from this is that it's still very much up in the air, yes Yoshi-P will always have the final say but that doesn't mean he might still go forward with the dev teams plans instead. It appears its mainly being excluded since NIN was just added and DRK fits the theme of this expansion better which leads me to believe we won't see another DOW for this expansion. Granted, this is all just my own personal opinion on the topic and others may draw a different conclusion from it than I did.

On a side note, I have no feeling either way on it going tank or DD, I made this poll more out of curiousity to see what the community's feeling was on the topic.

He said he always seen samurai as a dps but we'll see, it still has a chance of being a tank since not many of the FF jobs can be altered into tanks like dark knights was.

Considering the Dark Knight has a high possibility (or already confirmed? o_O I don't remember... part of me is just waiting till it actually comes out) of being tank in Heavensward, I wouldn't mind Samurai being DPS (though we have plenty of those).


However, at the same time, since Ninja is a DPS in a similar Eastern/Japanese fashion wouldn't that make Samurai as DPS redundant? o.o

I can see Samurai going either way, honestly. Raised parry % cooldowns, etc, tanking-wise; but also certain strikes as DPS skills/buffed skills (Eeeeh, few years practicing Iaido, I can think of plenty of things those skills -DPS and Tank - could be) .... could go either way.
Hell, they could have a similar mechanic to monk - required stances for certain skills (high, medium, low stances are used for different purposes IRL... I've honestly forgotten the names by now. But, one-handed reverse hold = <3... figure eights = <3<3<3 ...but I digress).

Really, I'd love to see this class in either job role.

Voted! I picked DPS, but I can see arguments for it being a Tank. Just like DRK, I always saw it as a DPS, but I was able to see arguments for it being a Tank.

And like the DRK, it can always be altered for a new game. But if I had to put money on it, I'd say it will be a DPS, assuming it's even a real job.... still holding my breath for confirmation. My face is a dark shade of purple now.

DPS gets my vote, I'm tired of seeing all my favorite jobs as tanks. (Warrior/Dark Knight)

That and we don't have enough jobs that would fit as a tank. Even with DRK, I can't think of any othe rjobs aside from Mystic Knight, Samurai and Beastmaster. And losing Samurai wouldn't spell good things in the long run.
