This comment is kinda unrelated to your point: That hole on the tummy looks ridic IN MY OPINION.
FFXIV is not nearly as bad as most other games, of course. Here is what typically passes for female "armor" in Tera, for example. But the point still holds, that there is a disparity between how male and female armor is designed, and how much skin either of those show off. Should a female dragoon be able to show their midriff and look sexy? Sure, why not, this is a fantasy game, let people dress their characters as they please. But why can't we get the fully-covered version, as well? And why can't we simply ask for it, without it being a freaking controversy?
.
I'll kill someone if they mess with my DRK armor when released.![]()
I am sorry if I embarrassed you by pointing out your glaring mistake while you were busy talking about how stupid this thread is.
I am also sorry about this, but you are wrong again, I do have the right to talk. Just like you have the right to not read threads you find stupid. A right you should probably make the best of, especially if you feel reading threads makes you stupid as well.
The hole makes sense due to the physical actions a dragoon partakes in. Jumping and poledancing like they do requires a great deal of core stomach movement. If you were in plate or hard scale armour, this would be much harder to do. So while it looks ridiculous, it has it's needs.
Though the chainmail cover would be nice to be able to turn on.

Female plate armor needs to have breast size meshes added to the chest area (But lacking the breast physics due to it being plate armor.) Why? Because all I think about when I see a huge busty female in tight plate armor, is them holding their breath, and feeling uncomfortable whenever they take a step.
Ugh. So many people missing the point. It isn't about whether the differences are sexy or not sexy or wrong because of their inherent associations with being sexy or not, it's the fact that there are differences at all. If the difference was that the "girl version" of the armor had epic wings added or the vambraces missing people will be bothered. If the differences only occurred for a single race instead of one of the genders the issue would be the same. Say all male Roes get the epic wings added to their glowing green WHM armor; some people who aren't roes are going to be happy that they didn't get stuck with the 'impractical' wings and some people are going to be heartbroken that they can't get those wings without completely changing their character's race or gender. People wouldn't say just go wear the scholar AF gear to fulfill your desire to wear the glowing green, epic winged outfit, it's not the same. They love the glowing green of the outfit and the cool wings. They love the Dragoon AF and the covered/not covered stomach (whichever they can't have). They love the thighhighs/skirt/lowcut top and the full pants/highcut top.
Another example if the above doesn't cut it. Guys at a restaurant order a slice of pumpkin pie and when it arrives, sweet! It also has whipped cream on top with a caramel drizzle. Girls at a restaurant order a slice of pumpkin pie and when it arrives it has some whipped cream but sadly there is no caramel drizzle. While the majority of guys that go to this restaurant rather like caramel and are quite satisfied there are also a number of guys that don't really like it and kinda scrape it off. Then you have say half of the girls that go to this restaurant that don't like caramel anyhow and gladly chow down, but the other half of girls absolutely love caramel and have no way to add caramel to their pie unlike the unhappy guys that could attempt to scrape it off. The whole problem would be fixed if the restaurant would just put the option of with or without caramel on the menu. People would pick the version they're happy with and there be no issue.
This thread is about giving characters the option to have the glowing green outfit with or without the epic wings if they want either one and not be limited by their gender. It's about giving people the option to add or withhold caramel based on their personal preferences.

1. Not embarrassed, I just don't really care. Objectify, Objectification, Google doesn't give a damn, mainly makes Objectification definition fit Objectify, it's still virtually the same damn thing so past me messing up that it's a verb, I seriously don't care past you playing Mr. Corrector.
2. How can I be wrong when this topic has virtually turned to hell from basically a youtube video mocking the trope? And I feel no dumber than the fact you are trying to defend your right to act like that you can suddenly be taken any more seriously over something as dumb as this.
Sorry, I have no idea who this Tupsi person is. This is my only character in this game.Your character looks quite a bit like Tupsi's.
Sorry to inform you but I'm not the one who came up with the term. I also think calling it something else would be good for the movement because of the negative associations misandrists have gotten attached to it and because uninformed people tend to make the assumption that it only affects females when that isn't true.
Anyway, I feel the thread lock is coming soon, so I am bailing out of this :P
See ya next time.
I'd like to add that, my contributions so far notwithstanding, SE is one of the best developers in the business for not giving in to the bikini plate mail trope. Compared to most other modern MMOs, this game is fairly egalitarian. Most of the gear that is skimpy on females is skimpy on males too. I just wish 'most' could be replaced by 'all'.
The fact that I can list the exceptions on one hand is pretty good. I just wish the exceptions weren't there. They serve no purpose other than lowering the tone.
This thread. Holy bejeesus.
OP posts video calling out the fantasy genre for being misogynistic. It's a cute video, chuckle worthy at least. And somehow people take this a direct affront against FFXIV.
/sigh
Except that both are catgirls, there are not many similarities.
It could be something like: "FF XI have catgirls. Let us put also catgirls into FF XIV. A different type of catgirls"
So long it have no edge in the middle that would kill her if she fall.Female plate armor needs to have breast size meshes added to the chest area (But lacking the breast physics due to it being plate armor.) Why? Because all I think about when I see a huge busty female in tight plate armor, is them holding their breath, and feeling uncomfortable whenever they take a step.
