As a woman, I'm inclined to agree with this.
Your whole gripe has been about revealing clothing being prevalent and slutty. I'm -glad- men find the female form attractive and enjoy looking at it. If they didn't, the human race would dwindle to extinction. Is that what you want? Wishing women to be covered completely is just as objectifying as saying women should be scantily clad.
In protest of being told that showing skin is slutty and being objectified, I took my bra off. How dare you people.
What if they were equally as skimpy/sexy on guys? Oh, you wouldn't like that? That's not what I meant. What I meant is to design both versions of the same armor and let each version being equippable by both sexes. This would require A LOT of work.
Currently they design a set and adjust it automatically if it's being worn by a male or a female. Again, if you want unisex stuff look how the Noct Lorica turned out to be. No, thanks.
Oh my god, please READ THE THREAD, you sound ridiculous.Your whole gripe has been about revealing clothing being prevalent and slutty. Point is, what you want and like might not be necessarily what most others want and like. Most guys like seeing cute / sexy girls, and many girls like dressing in such a way. This is true both in games and real life. No amount of moralism will change this fact.Adjusting meshes is actually not really time consuming. You're basically saying that designing two different costumes is cheaper and faster than adjusting meshes for a different body type. Which isn't logical at all. Noct Lorica is a sole example and could be easily fixed by a different texture. I'd guess they were just lazy.
Anyway: I like practical armour, which is there to defend the wearer. Even if it was too expensive to design those for females as well (which is honestly a bs argument), they could at least make them equal in defense.
Concerning Miqo'tes which apparently are the prime offenders with their default outfit are easily explained.
Catgirls (and cat "humans" in general) are present in Japan since ancient times.
In current eastern pop culture, catgirls are often cutesy sexualized, as opposed to western culture where they are usually depicted as "catwoman styled".
Female Miqo'tes are currently one of the most played race/sex combination, both by male and female players.
Seems to me most of the players are fine with how things currently are.
I would not care at all, as I play a female Miqo'te :P
You, my lady, clearly understand.
Also, pics.

Show me some fan service gear from XI or early XIV then. That shouldn't be too hard, should it?That's not the point. Why is a catgirl race present in the first place? I am pretty sure you understand how popular the concept of "catgitls" is, especially for asian anime fans. And guess what - most of the time they are "sexualized in a cutesy way", just like most idols. Miqo'te is a fanservice race, cut and dry - ever wondered why Mithras and 1.0 Miqo'tes were female only?
Why are you arguing about cosplayers? They have nothing to do with gender dimorphic gear. They can choose to cosplay in DRG AF without the belly window, female characters in this game can't.
Because that's what it is, I don't understand why what we are saying isn't getting through to you. You seem intelligent and articulate enough. Is it just that damaging to your sense of self to accept that just maybe you don't care about others (in this case women) as much as you thought you did? To not accept that somethign you like is actually degrading to them?
I just stated that, of course, you can't put Zettai Ryouiki on a male char. I mean, you can, but it would be disgusting. On females it's cute. I still don't see what's wrong with that, it's the same reason in real life girls use skirts and high heels and makeup. Is that "objectifying" as well? Are girls "objectifying" themselves? Nietzsche kinda said this actually, but those were old times I guess.
What if they were not allowed to leave the house without high heels and makeup? Still no problem? It's the removal of choice. Female character's can't wear a coatee without their boobs hanging out. They can't wear DRG AF without showing their midriff or Ninja AF without showing cleavage.
Really? You really believe women are paid the same as men? It's refusing to see the problem which perpetuates the problem. Perhaps you should consider if you aren't being a little wilfully obtuse. It's not a weakness to re-evaluate your position after arguments from others.
Now show me the female DRG AF without a belly window. Or a Miqo'te in a Coatee set that doesn't look like a pharmaceutical sales rep.http://xivdb.com/?item/3207/Buccaneer%27s-Shirt

Perhaps you haven't understood my 'gripe' or read my posts, one or the other.Your whole gripe has been about revealing clothing being prevalent and slutty. I have stated repeatedly that I have no problem with sexy clothing in game or out, but my problem is that female characters cannot choose to have all the same gear that male characters do without having to have it 'sexified' to borow a fellow poster's phrase.

You're like 20.000km off. It's not about sluts, slutty appereance or anything like it. I like looking at women just like the next guy. The problem however is, that a Male Paladin tanks some Garlean Panzer while being full clad in plate armour to minimize the damage. The female Miqo'te next to him has covered her breats and pelvis. That's it. And that's the problem. Let them have their skimpy and appealing outfits. I don't mind. But move those to vanity gear, not main gear.
I could show you this.
