Nobody would vote that they want unobtainable items that cost more outside their sub fee because it costs them more money.

How about if SE sell key items in the cash shop? And the key items work like the Zodiac quests. You have to do specific dungeons, primal fight and maybe also some FATEs to fill the key item with energy. Once it is full, you give the key item to a NPC to get the vanity item you wanted at the beginning. To make it clear, I also don't think that you should just get things for free because you're paying a sub. I think you should have to work for them either by putting in time and effort or by earning gil in game. I highly doubt that the majority of people asking for cash shop items to become available in game expect to just get them without putting in any effort.
Would this not make both side happy?
Key you just said sell so ppl dont mind spending cash as long as its a quest? the ppl just complain that they can't get the quest and why do they have to pay. It be the same thing stillHow about if SE sell key items in the cash shop? And the key items work like the Zodiac quests. Many mmos that have come before FFXIV ARR have set a precedent that you can have a sub fee and a cash shop with vanity items and people will pay for your game still or be indifferent about it and you will be making a lot of extra money with the cash sub vs money lost by people being upset over it and quitting. If they look at the #1 sub mmo WoW SE can see how successful they been with their sub+cash shop model and emulate it in FFXIV to try and achieve the same success.
Because players suggested they wanted to be able pay real money for Phils of Phantasia and Name Change Service.
If SE did take a vote and included that items like More Fantasia/Name changes would be included, no one would have voted against it. People have been stating they wanted to pay for these things and so it's happening.
The important question now is how far are we willing to let them push it.
No it's not unreasonable but some people would have you think it is.I'm sorry but I don't agree with that, if people come up with a budget that gives them around $10-20 a month for entertainment they're already doing everything they can to spend their money wisely. Odds are you can't give me any examples of entertainment that are cheaper than this game.
Just because you can afford a sub doesn't mean you can afford the cash shop content, is it really that unreasonable to ask that cash shop items are not exclusive to the cash shop?
I think that is exactly what needs to change. Somehow someway make these cash shop items available in game without the exclusivity and most players will be happy. Not 100% but many more than are now. Odin's mount dropping once they add his fight into the game is a good idea. At least that as well as a version of the 2 seat choco for married couples. Maybe not a fancy one like in the gold package but something because for one it was shown as if it was gonna be part of being married. Honestly I think making it a cash shop purchase was a last minute decision and was suppose to be free all along. That's my thoughts.
why should they give a right to the general populace on what THEY want to see in THEIR cash shop? why should we have say in what is displayed ?
A company is a company they make decisions on what they want, we dont need to know the why the because and the where. We just have the choice to either agree with what is proposed or not agree and leave.
These kind of request are just annoying and yes, in my opinion, you want to see what you want to see, this is just not going to happen, they MAY make a survey now and then but they have no obligations.
Just leave if you dont like it and check now and then if what is proposed at a time is suitable to you.
paying a subscription allows you to play, it doesnt give you the control on what you can play and at what condition, you just pay to access.

That was the most reasonable post I have ever seen on this topic.why should they give a right to the general populace on what THEY want to see in THEIR cash shop? why should we have say in what is displayed ?

Because we signed up in the expectation that paying our sub would get us 100% of the game. This is no longer true. Are SE within their rights to introduce this? Of course, no one's arguing they can't.Why do ppl hate the cash shop so bad? i mean no one makes you look at it. Dose it hurt you to see other players with cash shop stuff is that it? i'm lost as to why this bugs ppl so much for me i'm all for it i don't always have a ton of gill so its nice to know i can get somethings with real cash and i'm sure there are others like me out there
Of course they are within their rights to make BIS available through cash shop, to make new classes and jobs only available through cash shop and it would probably even be long-term profitable for them to do so but that doesn't mean we shouldn't complain about it.
The only person that can stand up for consumers in this market is the consumers themselves.
