    The thing is that without elemental bonuses, a lot of the reason to have more than two or three is lost. I know SE doesn't want to make the wheel meaningful for players in order to avoid making some jobs worthless on X fight, but maybe they could put it into effect for just the Egis? All elements in one job, therefore no imbalance in usability, and you'd have the option of using one that you think would give better utility(Contagion, for example) or going with the one that beats the element of the monster you're fighting.

    I agree with everyone that Contagion should be the caster's skill, not Garuda's. They should move it to be a SMN skill and give Garuda something to replace it.

    Garua is rng dps and ifrit is melee dps. I think thats fine. Each pet, or option is valuable for various types of fights. I swap mine out all the time in dungeons. What we need next is an aoe pet, then we have all types covered.

    The upside of this would be as an aethyrflow ability it would have to be an instant (which it is now I think but it would hopefully go off more quickly/reliably at least). If we got a fourth aethyrflow stack with the level cap increase as a level 51 trait seems like that might work well in conjunction with this.

    I use SMN for a lot of my Open World stuff because having my own insta-tank with Titan-Ego (now with 10,800 HP how I'm geared) is awesome. But contagion being gone is the one thing that always feels a bit off. My main crossbar even has it slotted and as a controller user that's prime real estate. It's that integral of a SMN ability.

    Only way summoner will ever work is overhauling it to be a command class. Meaning the summoner just gives the pet orders and essentially means without the pet the summoner won't survive very long. This will never happen though because they are already dead set on it being a warlock design class which is a real shame. I dropped the class because it just got dull and boring the way its made and possibly because I played a Warlock in WoW so basically playing the same thing again to me is just not interesting.
