No. just no. Even ignoring the fact I never liked that insane taru in FFXI (and this coming from a patriotic Windurstian), and was always cynical about SE putting her on such a pedestal when there were far better npcs in FFXI they could have used, fanservice for fanservice's sake adds nothing to the game other than cheapening the whole thing.

The short-term FATE and connected quest as part of the crossover celebrations of FFXI's eleventh anniversary was enough. Keep Shantotto in Vana'diel where she belongs!

But shes already more then that just look at the name of the BLM soul stone or there relic! Or most of the back story behind black mage sorry but shes every were if you are a BLM! She is more routed into the world then many NPC's that live there already!

You're right, they're obviously naming the gem after the Shatotto Architects company...

It's obvious the BLM stone is named after Shantotto. They removed the "n" only to make the name more Lalafellin-naming-conventions-friendly.

I agree that the Thaumaturge from the Fifth Astral Era is named in reference to Shantotto from FFXI, but they aren't one in the same. Much like how Doga and Unei from the Crystal Tower story are named after characters from FFIII, but they aren't literally the same characters.

I assume the N was dropped to avoid confusion when the Tarutaru herself visited Eorzea.

I don't argue that, just that the BLM Soul Gem is not referencing to her as Wobble was saying.

With allll that being said, I've already given my 2-cent about her future involvement with Eorzea, so /tiphat..!
