Are you implying that anyone who defends mircotransactions are completely wrong? Does that mean your opinion and stance on microtransactions are the universally accepted fact that no one is allowed to disagree with? I find it funny that those who are so adamantly opposed to microtransactions violently attack those who say otherwise.

OP created a well balanced and thought out post that defends his (and many others) opinion on this subject and the vocal minority of players that exist on this forum are going full force into ripping him and others a new one

I'm sure someone as well versed as yourself on what is fact and correct and accurate can give me the documented facts and examples.

Also, while you praise the OP's "opinions" in the initial post, you are clearly disregarding his attempts at dismissing any opposing opinions in his ensuing replies because they're "irrational," often attacking the people he's attempting to argue down, and basically saying all of his opinions are "facts." It's people like the OP who allowed the degeneration of MMORPGs. I will never support micro transaction or Free to Play (Pay to Win) or any such hybrid.

I'll be more than happy to pay a higher monthly sub if it means there are no cash shops in the subscription game I'm playing.

I'm not taking a side on this, and the question I am about to ask is in no way as sarcastic as its going to come off so please do not flip. I am truly curious. The core people who are mad at this, those who made threads and posted in the other, count out to about 15. So I went back and looked over other big deal things, such as housing. I noticed its the same people, around 15 of you, raging and claiming the game was going down hill and that this is wrong and all that. My question is, and I am really sorry how its coming off since the internet cannot show facial expressions, if you are always upset with the direction, and always saying things like "I don't know if I'll be around much longer", why do you stay? I mean there are other good MMOs out there, this isn't the only game. Why do you stay is a question I ask myself and I know the answer, but I am curious as to your's.

Doesn't mean others would be happy to pay higher monthly sub, especially if they don't care about weddings etc. In fact the good thing about this is the opposite of what you said, it keeps the monthly sub unchanged.

It doesn't matter if it's a vanity item or an end game piece of equipment. The fact that it's attainable outside of the game (and a subscription one at that!) by forking out more money cheapens the whole mmorpg experience.

I wish more people would speak up. It's being passive about it that has gotten us to this point. Anyway, it's time for breakfast. My opinion still stands.

@amaret: i think the trouble is more about the fact that:
1) they did advertise the eternal bond as a package
2) now that the developement is over, they decide to make more money from it, by striping a part of the package and put it in the cash shop.

it's not really different than making a premium sub... and more bad, it's this method are normally tie to the free 2 play model.... when we are in Pay 2 play model. that why people (me included are a bit angry about it)
wow is the only one pay 2 play that did succeed to do a cash shop, but never they will have done this... they are not crazy to the point to think that them playerbase will forgive them this move.

so far only a small part of the playerbase know about the fact that the eternal bond will be partially gated behind the cash shop. mostly because most of the playerbase don't really use the forum and since the new is not officially release they don't really care, but you can be sure that will encounter more and more trouble as people will learn of it, personally, all the person i know that i have told about it, was shocked and a bit angry by this decision.

ps: by the way, wow cash shop exist now for a very long time and still they only have 8 mount and 10 pets, some was even added for get money for give it to aid association. indeed they have keep it after for make money for them... but they did begin to sell pet in 2009....
