I can't play ffxiv right now but I know for first coil of bahamut it has level sync at 50 (near the bottom of the duty page) the last time I checked it which was a while ago. I don't know if they changed that or not or if its for newer dungeons so someone else would have to confirm that for me. Also 1.0 and 2.0 are different things. 2.0 was a remake of 1.0, not an expansion. The level cap did not increase from 1.0 to 2.0 so its a different case.

    It was never level synch, bur rather, "Requirements" that you are thinking of. The requirement to enter is Level 50, and for First Coil to enter is i70, and Second Coil to enter is 90. Both slowly increase per turn. But none of them indicate level synch (Which is indicated by Level: X (Sync from Y) or ilevel sync (Item Level Sync: X.)

    No there was definitely a level sync at some point at least but, like I said I can't confirm it right now. I think its also shown in one of mr. happy's videos but I can't find it atm.

    Would be rather nice if AF2 was i60, and they started from there... Knock down some of the old gear a few notches too. Or we'll end up like WoW with iLv8590174358920 by the 2nd expansion and they'll need to squish the item levels.

    Yeah they'll have to squish at some point but I think they'll be ok for the next few expansions. Endgame content only increased by 60 ilevels from entry raiding to final. Blizzard goes through like 150 ilevels+ from entry raiding to final.

    Either way, 20 iLvs per patch is a rather large jump, they could easily get away with 5-10.

    I think Square's hangup with iLevel (aside from there even being an iLevel...) is that they don't want it going up by anything less then 5s. Seems really silly to me considering how they handled the iLs of gear prior to level 50.

    yeah they could easily do that. It's just a little harder to set up dps checks with the smaller ilvl disparity. However, from the looks of final coil they might not steering away from dps checks anyway.
