If they start with i100 as your base item level, every two levels could be the equivalent of 10 item levels. So, level 50 = 100, 52 = 110, 54 = 120, 56 = 130, 58 = 140, and 60 = 150. Then we start over with the same gear progression that we experienced in 2.0 without the item level numbers getting ridiculously high. Also, well geared players will not need new armor until level 57/58. Seems fair enough.

It would be interesting, for the sake of continuity, if there was a "genkai" similar to FFXI at level 50, where you have a quest to equip all i100+ gear to continue leveling. Instead of having to grind dungeons for this, perhaps it will be a quest to get each piece similar to the level 45 and 50 class quests.

This said, I imagine they will delete a lot of the fetch quests we currently have to speed up story progression.
I think it should be relatively easy for new players to catch up even if they have to witness the whole 2.0-2.5 story. All they have to do is add experience to these quests if you're at or above level 50 and they probably can convert hard primals to light party content to lower que times (even add weapon drops if necessary). Then the new players should be around level 52-53 when they start 3.0 storyline.

Like the NPC at the start of 2.0 story where you have to equip lv5 gear to pocess in the story?

I suspect the following are likely to occur:
    • The current High-level and Expert Dungeons will likely be the majority of the post 50 "leveling" dungeons with only a few dungeons being added with level requirements of 51 to 59.
    • New i51 to i60 craftable white gear recipes will be added with level requirements equal to their ilevels and use new non-"time-locked" gathered materials.
    • i130 will be entry level endgame gear. Along with the current two i50 sets there will be a level 60/i130 crafted set made with new "time-locked" mats.

Do want!! I kinda liked that some of TBC's HC's felt like 5man mini raids, clearing usually took 45mins or more depending on group and having a CC made runs alot more fast and smoother.

I don't agree on your first point because the current High-level and Expert Dungeons are level synced to level 50. I agree with your second point and disagree with your third but I mentioned the reason why in earlier posts. I just don't think they'll make 4 sets of i130 gear. One from coil, another from sold/carbon, the crafted set, and another set for when you cap to level 60. I'm almost certain the new level 60 tomestone gear will be at least 135 or 140. Really depends on if they want to lower the scale for the new expansion.

One other option regarding story continuity would be just to have new players ignore all the 2.0 storyline. It would still be there, but they are just coming in as new adventurers at this point in the story. Basically how 2.0 players cannot ever go back and experience 1.0. Quests to unlock all current dungeons would need to be added, but this way the new player wouldn't have a couple hundred hours of story quests to do to get caught up.

The dungeons are not level synced yet, each dungeon has a hidden true level used to determine soulbinding which will likely determine xp gained for completion and kills.

i130 at the end of 2.5X will be equivalent of i70 Darklight at the end of 1.23.

Edit: Seems you misread my post. I do not believe there will be a i130 crafted set that can be equipped at level 50, I believe that the new i130 crafted set introduced in 3.0 will require level 60 to equip.

That wouldn't make a lot of sense. Why should every major expansion lock out the old story and content? How would relics work for people who missed out on them? How do you get the player up to speed on what happened from 2.0 into 3.0? What lore forces the lock on 2.0? Should people who are not done with 2.X just stop playing and wait till 3.0 so they can easily get items and content done that way? Should people who started in 2.0 get a special nod like the 1.0 players got in 2.0? Will the echo and primals still be relevant for 3.0, even though they were a major factor in 2.0?
