Would like the dated gear to be brought back

I don't see the reason for actually adding dated gear to the Mogstation, as it's whole point it even exists is it was simply obsolete gear that was in 1.0 prior to gear being changed in a patch (spiritbonding being added, level restrictions or penalties being added etc). It's dated because that's exactly what it is - obsolete and a relic from version 1.0's early days when equipment functioned a little differently.

As others have suggested, the only difference appearance wise is some slight detail differences and the fact a lot of it has unique colourings that cannot be replicated by dyes. However, mostly they're rather dull, butt ugly and only worth keeping for sentimental value (in fact, the only piece of dated gear I really use is my Dated Brass Dagger, which is one of the few daggers that wasn't removed from GLA/PLD - one of these days I'm going to glamour the appearance of that to my Curtana for the lulz and see how long it takes other people to ask me "how are you still using a dagger on PLD?". ).

Actually they made that gear dated because of the way it was set. Each piece was completely separate data wise and they needed to shrink down the size. So instead of having 5 different spots in the data files for each piece (per color) they could have one piece with 5 colors and they left those. Also if I remember right, that's also why we don't have an option to have written inventory instead of icons. Data size, but with the dated gear they don't need to add every color etc, just can either add them as is,or dyeable like the gear is now. Some look lame dyed, some don't.

I'm glad I held onto the Dated Hempen Kecks because some of the pant options for male healers are awful (tights, poofy pants, boxer shorts).
The kecks at least look like normal pants lol

I like the cash shop, i think its pretty awesome! I just wish they accepted paypal so I could get stuff from it as well as retainers and a name change.

They are dated gears, because they were crafted with the old recipes, which got removed during 1.20 or 1.21.
The recipes got streamlined (around 5 mats instead of 10 mats as an example) and the gears from the old recipes got an dated in their name to differ them from the gear of the new recipes. With ARR the old recipes got removed completely and dated gear became untradeable and lost their stats.

Haha yeah the RECIPES... I DON'T want to make a comeback. I used to have a macro as a joke for people who complained about crafting stuff...
Was something like "back in mah days of 1.0, we didn't have them fandangled craft logs. We had to manually make each piece AND have the right colored dyes. To make a robe we had to craft the front, back, sleeves, dyed was a synth in itself, hood inner, outter, spin around, complete 2 leves, spit on it, spirit bond it, THEN ONLY THEN... Did we have a 0.004% chance of successfully crafting".


The only way id EVER want to see that ridiculous recipe style back is if it was some "artisan craft book" recipes where you could dye the pieces individually during the synth and if you wanted that same item you could craft it normally but without the special multi dyeable capabilities.
No ridiculously hard requirements other than time consuming lol.

I really want one of those. I was sad when they took away daggers from gladiators. Aggghhhhh want my gladiator daggers back
