You hit the nail on the head. This was how EQ2 did housing. Although different sizes Apartments/Homes had higher rent. Also, it would allow not only for people who already have an FC room to have another room to themselves that are incapable of buying a house due to lack of funds, but it would also allow for people who prefer not to be in an FC to have a room of their very own.
A 10k monthly fee sounds very reasonable for this (as I personally can make 15k running a single Expert Roulette), and maybe there could be an option to store money inside a "Rent Box" with a deposit-only option that would allow players to contribute to their rent gradually over the month rather than all at once. In this manner, players could completely pay off each month up to 30 days in advance in installments to be controlled by the player.
But for the time being I agree. 10k a month is very reasonable. That's less than a handful of Levequests of at lvl 41+.

Aion also had a Apartment housing system and with a personal housing. The difference was you automatically got a flat after you hit a specific level (rent free) while maintaining a personal house costs a "monthly maint. fee" that varied depending on the size of the house. Apartments would be good but what about a garden plot? If they make it where you could buy your apartment (make them of various sizes/rooms and different sizes cost different amounts) much like you can buy a GC room withing a FC house this would be grand. Have a some Chocobo stables and from your room maybe be able to access your own personal garden plot. An apartment building mailbox at the entrance would be nice as well with a MB/vendor area. Yes, I am taking these ideas from Aion. I liked their living arrangements.
With the sky continents coming up in Heavensward, how about our own, personal, instanced sky isles? Just large enough for a small cottage, stable, garden and miniature aetheryte that you can teleport to if you have an aetheryte key (keyitem), and that miniature aetheryte has the ability to teleport you to others (Friends [all of your friends that allow friends on their isles], Free Company Mates [that have set the requisite permissions] and Open to All [isles open to anyone who want to show up]).
There could even be several styles and layouts not tied to the surroundings because you know, same sky everywhere!

This is personal rooms guys. Instead of having you buy your own house for what on my server is 4-6M(small) you can buy one shared with your FC and get your own room which is like an apartment. And you can otherwise join an FC that has a house to get to your room. Housing was meant as a gil-sink and it is honestly doing a crappy job at that compared to how much money some people have and how easy it is to make gil if you know how to craft/gather(except for 4-stars thats BS)

Agreed. Housing was an attempt at a Gil sink. However it is a 1 time sink. This is personal rooms guys. Having Apartments would help somewhat as they could have a weekly rent fee. Thus a continuous Gil sink.
The bigger the apt, the more Gil it costs.
In EQ2 every 7 RL days rent was due on your home/apt.
Apartments would help house those who dislike joining FCs, those who do NOT have time to commit to a FC, and stop folks from joining FCs only to dye their Choco's/raid the FC vault then bail out.

with the 10k/month is not enough gil sink, a player earn much more than this/day

Great Idea! The creators need to hear this plan.
