It's been informed to me that WAR's wearing STR gear isn't correct.

Based on the cumulative whining and *****ing from my last Shiva EX group, wearing DPS gear on WAR is playing the class incorrectly.

The basis for this was that the healers didn't see the need to use any cross-class abilities like Virus or Eye for an Eye on anyone because it shouldn't be needed. While the two MNKs said Mantra never served a point if people were already dead, I.E. me, because healers let me die twice through the runs because they prioritized healing DPS before me. Then we have the other two DPS, BLMs, who also should have access to Virus and Eye for an Eye, which means 4 people could have been passing it around to the tanks given if they've ever leveled Arcanist at all, widely decreasing Shiva's overall DPS to the group throughout the fight.

They never used Apocatastasis on anyone, Lethargy(if it even works on Shiva, but that doesn't mean it couldn't on the Ice Soldiers), and so on and so forth.
But no, not once did I ever see Virus pop up on Shiva, or Eye for an Eye on me and the other tank. And apparently it's just a waste of time to use such things because tanks shouldn't be needing those things to begin with, and if they do need(or should I say, request them), it's through some fault of their own.

Is this how other DPS rationalize things these days? Is it honestly considered flaming when you ask why none of these things are being used on the party? I can't remember a time when I said to myself "Don't put Eye for an Eye on the tank when the healer's cooldown for it isn't ready yet, he's bad if he needs this ability and I'm going to tell him that." It's something tangibly close to sacrilege apparently when you ask such a thing.

This community never ceases to amuse and irritate me I swear to Hydaelyn.

(Small note since re-reading my post it seems one thing wasn't made clear by me. I have a mixed accessory set of STR and VIT being worn currently, they said I was using WAR incorrectly because I was using any DPS gear at all, and my lower HP but higher damage and better enmity generation didn't matter in the slightest because I was simply playing badly with it.)

They're still tanking though, I wasn't put in the party for the sole sake of STR Tank, I was just there as the other WAR that had a few pieces of STR gear spec'ed in. Why have them just sit in your hotbar and never be used instead of putting them out there periodically to support the group as a whole?

I have the Noct Ring and Gloam 110 for Rings, Gloam 110 Choker for Neck, Slaying Bracelet on Wrists, and 110 Tank Earring on. It's mixed and matched. But no, I do not have full Vitality gear at this time, which is why the STR gear is mixed among the VIT gear. I have full 90 VIT gear for each slot, but nothing higher and I removed those in favor of the 110 STR.

Conqueror as weapon, 110 Circlet and Lorica for Body, WAR's Gauntlets which I still need to upgrade, Phlegethon's Plate Belt, Heavy Wolfram Cuirasses Penta-melded, and Phlegethon's Sabatons. I had several runs beforehand with other groups where the healers were actually keeping me alive during the fight, I know for a fact the healers this time weren't as great at actually healing since one of them was dying occasionally, and DPS was failing to avoid things properly.

In a random group if they ask me to go VIT I typically do. Clearing is more important then listening to people who don't have a clue tell me how to do my job.

I've only rage quit once and that was a Garuda EX. I was i110 in STR gear and they said my HP wasn't enough for the encounter....I guess people forget some of these fights were being cleared before people were i90.

As a tank your priority would be VIT. Plain and simple. Dungeon runs and off tanking STR is acceptable but boss and primal encounters as a MT, you should worry about your max HP.

Quit trying to be a DPS and just Tank. Your priority is VIT not STR.

I would recommend VIT if possible but with str being better then some of your VIT gear or accessories, it shouldn't be much of an issue. It sounds like everyone was messing up in your run. Dps taking too many hits, healers prioritizing wrong and if the monks are saying they won't use mantra because people are dying too quick that's another hint that people aren't dodging well. Doesn't sound like it's solely your issue.

Also in party based content everyone need to improve we're they can, if they are all pointing the finger at you but they won't do virus or eye for an eye, then they are equally to blame.
Everybody gotta do what they gotta do to succeed as a team, people can't just cry about one person and refuse to use all of their own abilities because they never had to before. Eye for an eye is amazing everytime
