I get I was wrongI think what you're missing is the Company SE who runs the game.... are at work as we speak, AND last time we had issues on a Sunday they worked on it even with the servers being in Canada. I'll let you look that up yourself so you can see the point oh and do me a favor learn how MMO's work SE being in Japan doesn't mean they can't work on something in Canada example does SE go to your house if you have a issues with the game or do they fix it from where they are?
You bring up very valid points.
Probably closer to 50-60k/year for that type of network admin work. 20-30 is less than what tech support makes lol. But otherwise I agree. =PHello, IT experience here.
Reserve staff are kept on call for emergencies, which this is considered to be. You can expect a slower response time (2-3 hrs) than usual as people making $20-30k/yr tops cancel their family plans, dinner appointments, dates, and vacations to ship off to the office and do some unpaid overtime so you can keep playing your videogame.
This of course assumes that the problem is hardware-related cannot just be fixed remotely by an admin writing and running a few scripts.
Any self-respecting company running servers of this magnitude will have 24/7 NOC teams monitoring the data-centers. This issue is with the Montreal Data Center and there is more than likely a team dealing with it.
Yeah, that's what you'd expect an actual network admin to make. Mostunimportantaverage work is going to be done by support grunts with scripts, though, not wholly-trained network pros. Cutting costs!
Not saying SE is one, but unfortunately there are far too many companies, that has a 24/7 service, that has neither on call, or support, 24/7.
MANTASTIC: I got 1017 problems, but playing FFXIV ain't one.
