Correction: It technically "gives you" extra CP since you can use CP food instead of craftsmanship/CP food. Supra lets you hit the craftsmanship requirement without food.
However: I've NQ'd more 4-star stuff on my "supra crafters" than my "non-supra crafters." Why? RNG. That extra 26 or whatever CP you can get (craft/cp food vs cp food) doesn't buy you that much. 1 SH2? It's something. However, in the grand scheme of things, most 4-star recipes boil down to a combination of CP replenishment through ToT, not failing too much on HT/RS and a good/excellent on BB especially if you had too many failures on earlier on.
I will say that I altered my rotation a bit when using craft/cp food, and found that my HQ chance is far higher due to THAT change than anything else. The extra CP is nice, but I wouldn't say it is a requirement to do 4-star.
