Why is it called dark matter?

How do you actually use dark matter? Does it simply replace the old repair materials?

Yeah all repair requirements on items were changed to dark matter, so it works the same as the repair materials used to before.

Also, higher ranked gear requires higher grades of dark matter - of which there are currently 5.
