Keep past content out of Cash Shop

This is one case where i don't have to take the bad with good. Plenty of other games are coming up that I can play. If they doesn't kill the cash shop that's on them. I have no plans to return until its gone. If people collectively let this shit slide it'll only get worse. why support game that charges it players more than the game itself is worth. As far as I'm concerned anything says "Square Enix" is boycotted until they address this bullshit. And yes that boycott list has more than few gaming companies on it. To date none of them have ever been removed from the list. And I doubt S.E. will be an exception.

Look at any AAA game released in 2014, they all have dlc, season passes, micro transactions, stuff taken out of the game so you can buy it on the online store later. Does that mean you won't buy a game from any major publisher?

The difference is you aren't paying for a subscription in the usual game.

The thought of getting new content for your favorite vidya games doesn't "tickle yer nuts"?
Right now it probably doesn't, but back then the possibilities were damn near endless, every game could have been an ever-changing endless amount of fun.
Online multiplayer on consoles blew my goddamn mind.

The only DLC I've purchased is stuff that adds well it's worth into a game. Now obviously that's subjective, but people buying "Horse armor" in Oblivion (The most notorious early day DLC) were the same kind of people that most DLC targets.

Square Enix pays their staff like any company a sallary or hourly wage. Them having more money isn't going to suddenly make them want to spend it on the game, it's just going to boost their bottom line.

Unless Square Enix is hiring new members for the development team, the exact same ammount of work is going to be done on FFXIV today as it was tomorrow, the operating budget will likewise remain the same, likewise anything expensive like moving servers wont be looked at until the companies next budget meeting and trust me that "Cash shop revenue" is not in a collum of the spreadsheet the bean counters will be using when they decide if moving the servers to EU is a profitable move for the company.

The EU data center will happen only if and when SE feels they would gain more customers than the cost of implementing the data center would cost, not a single thought will be givin to how much cash shop is generating comes into that decision.



That's one option but a extreme one at best. Trust me a few people will probably not let their subscription renew due to the cash shop.

The real clincher is if people make enough purchases to justify the cost of developing content aside from the main game. (This of course is only possible if they aren't just stripping existing content from the game or development team to place into the cash shop ala Odin mount)

The way you talk is that you work there and know what's going on. Do you really? If so I say to you what is your source of knowledge coming from or is this just a assumption?


And the DLC thing, don't think everyone is the same when it comes to it consider some DLC is worth the £ like Deadnations DLC where things like, well I don't know, it depends on the Cost of the DLC for me as I see some in there £20 and what you get for it is stupid.

But what really p**es me off is when dev release the game but not all the content on the Disc is playable unless you buy it as DLC. Cough cough, destiny.

PS4 and Xbox both require a monthly sub for all the games on the system if you want to play online very similar to mmos.

Unless it's FFXIV, PS4 requires you to have PS+ to play online, I don't have it but I can still play XIV alright which is good as I don't fancy having to pay well twice for 1 thing then again PS+ dose offer you quite alot.
