    Even if dc are on users' end, it would still be very nice to have a resume craft option. That could also be used when accepting DF queue without botching the synth or withrowing from DF.

    A lot of issues are on players' end if you think of it: discard Rare-Untradable items, exchange materia melded gear for quests or seals and lots of other things WE (the players) could do wrong. They always try to help the player in minimizing the impact of his own mistakes/problems (buybacks, alerts, checkboxes, etc...); why don't extend this to issues (and losses) caused by a player dc, even if that is caused by others?

    I am sure, to be honest, they have thought of a feature like this one, but there must be some issue preventing them to implement it (server resources, info exchange between server and client, others...). It would be very interesting to hear devs comment on this.

    I disagree. It is good to have rare materials for crafting... adds value to the crafts (even though I would like extremely rare drops for extremely powerful armors, instead of long time to get ingredients for not BiS gear).

    The resume option could get you back to your crafting table as soon as you are back online forcing you to finish your craft before doing anything else or forcing you to resume the craft whenever you want, but preventing you from crafting anything else, before you finish the half-made one.

    Can anyone name a single MMORPG that allows you to resume crafting after a disconnect? I can't think of any, though granted I don't disconnect very often.

    On the other hand, your poor connection is not SE's problem.

    I haven't seen another MMO that uses a crafting system in the same style of FFXIV. It's click and wait for a cast timer; the final product is decided at the end of the crafting process, with no influence during.

    Associating every DC with player connection is an extremely broad outlook too, I've seen several instances that the servers (or PSN) were in legitmately bad condition that a handful of players would disconnect at the same time.

    All things considered, this sort of thing is straight up bad in design because of what can happen, whether it be on the player or the server side. And it especially gets worse with higher ranked crafting that gets time gated materials.

    omg this is comprehension difficulty =/

    not saying I dc often or that is S-E fault. People selling/trading items by mistake is not their fault either. Just saying it would be nice to have thic parachute SHOULD a dc happen. That's it.

    I am not even complaining for a resume feature to be missing. Just suggesting something that could be useful for many people.

    Seriously, why don't we have a resume craft option? I don't see how that could be exploited, as long as it put you exactly where you left off before DC or a df queue.

    I logged a suggestion here. Ideally we could have it for everything but at least allowances are a good start and better than what we have.

    As much as I understand and feel the OP's pain, this is something that just opens the door for exploitation. Things like duped items, spamming disconnect til you get an Excellent, etc.

    I won't pretend to understand computer networks, but I also think it would be just impossible to code a resume craft. When I disconnect, it seems like it rubber bands, reconnects a second, rubber bands again, reconnects, lags, then r=0 and kicks me off. How do you code something to save that? At what point is the save made? Bottom line is its a risk you take in online gaming.

    I would be interested to know what exactly happens to your character when you DC. I'm not a programmer, but it seems like they could just make it so if you DC while crafting, when you log back in everything is exactly the same...still crafting, same progress, same quality, etc. I mean geez, if you DC in a dungeon you still pop back up in the dungeon as long as the time hasn't expired or you didn't get kicked...

    I'm pretty sure the way it works now is that if you FAIL a craft (durability hits 0) you have a 10% (or so, I don't know the exact value) chance to get your materials back. 90% if reclaim is active. If you QUIT or DISCONNECT during a craft, then you have a 0% chance. I have no idea why it works this way instead of just giving you the exact same chance to reclaim as FAIL would. There's no way to abuse that.
