    I just timed it.

It takes a little less than 8 minutes to go from the Weaver's Guild in Ul'dah to Camp Horizon on foot.

    That's not bad at all.

If you are getting on and doing all of your regionals and locals every reset and also insisting that you only do the most perfect leves form each city... then you're not really that casual a player. As an actual casual player, I find that I have more than enough anima if I think about what quests/leves I have and plan to do them together. (Ie...I bundled up all the sidequests by DryBones, locals at DryBone and regionals at Halitali, story quest by BW, then regionals at BW in a single trip). Anima isn't in place so that you can visit all 3 cities and 9+ camps every 36 hours without any travel at all...

The point of anima is so that a casual player can log on and, and quickly get started with SOME content....not necessarily quickly get to ALL the content ALL the time.

Really? I'm taking higher level ones and doing fine killing the mobs solo; but some have to take lower one for 100% clear.
Like say for my R21 Gladiator I did R30 1 star and I did fine
R42 Puglist with R40 5 star and doing fine on most of them.

Might depend on how you build your character up but I'm having no problems on them; maybe problems on harder ones with peist or jackals but so far everything else seems ok. Does lower ones, lower stars off same SP bonus at end? didn't check the end SP rewards on lower 1-4 stars lol. Was like "damn this is too easy, try 4 star...k this is still easy... 5 star... good"

I quit FFXI before field of valor so not sure on that, saw vid on youtube, whats that?? same guild leve kind of stuff where you can just solo repeat for exp??

Maybe it's because I was on Thaumaturge but I got spanked lol. I used to be able to clear all leves with my mages, some were hard like the wight stuff, but doable, now you have to be equal level with the leve rank or higher.

Fields of valor is similar to leves, they are camps in some areas that offer a limited amount of grinding quests for solo, groups and more challenging modes. You can only take so many for a period of time. They offer great xp and the crystal point gives out buffs like reraise, food, protect, regen and so on.

Haven't read all the responses, but in regards to OP, you are spot on with some of that mob placement.

I'm sure gatherers at higher ranks have been experiencing some resistance.

And Nanawa Mines is a horrible little place. I no longer take leves there if I think I'll end up there solo. And if I do take a leve, I still don't do Necropologos: Adamantine Will.

On the more casual side myself, I may not use all eight daily regionals and locals. I'll look at the turn-in spot and get really picky at what I tackle and where.

THM is actually really good at solo-ing still :X Scourge and Banish deal so much damage now and they have a ton of mob debuffs.

Ya know, aren't Anima costs supposed to be high to make us ready for Chocobos and Airships even more?

Can you do the wight stuff below rank 20 just fine? Yeah I noticed banish and scourge are awesome now. I might not be playing the job right and need to reassess when I have a minute. And mob grind since that's better now?
