The whole gear damage thing is moot for casual players. They will have abundance of anima to warp to town and get fixed up for cheap as well.

Huh? try doing Regional quests as well as local quests from 3 different cities as well as the new company quests and tell me what your Anima pool looks like. I did and I used a bunch. It was either that or spend wasted hours walking
I guess perhaps I don't count casual players as people who want to trek around the entire game-globe. Perhaps they would do leves in close areas, and not hop to all 3 cities in a single sitting.
Sounds more like "Hardcore" players don't want to waste their precious time with the limitation of traveling around the world slowing down their SP/Hour.

If you are getting on and doing all of your regionals and locals every reset and also insisting that you only do the most perfect leves form each city... then you're not really that casual a player. As an actual casual player, I find that I have more than enough anima if I think about what quests/leves I have and plan to do them together. (Ie...I bundled up all the sidequests by DryBones, locals at DryBone and regionals at Halitali, story quest by BW, then regionals at BW in a single trip). Anima isn't in place so that you can visit all 3 cities and 9+ camps every 36 hours without any travel at all...
The point of anima is so that a casual player can log on and, and quickly get started with SOME content....not necessarily quickly get to ALL the content ALL the time.
