if you really want the Pumpkin heads you'll shell out the money!
With hope that SE actually care about what we have to say about the pricing of the Cash Shop items, I also feel that the Sleipnir mount is ridiculously overpriced. 24 dollars doesn't sound like a lot of money, and to some it's not, but when you are the sole provider for your wife and child, in a one income household, it is quite difficult to justify spending 24 dollars on a virtual horse when that money could have went towards paying bills, buying food, buying diapers, wipes, etc. etc.
I feel that a much more reasonable price for an in-game mount would be 10 dollars. So SE, if you're listening to customer feedback, I would ask that you please take this to heart. As a legacy member that has been playing for over 2 and a half years, and paid the sub fee during 1.0 when we had very little to do in-game, but still had to pay to play anyway, I ask that you please consider keeping the cost of items in the cash shop low, and reasonable. Items being more affordable in the Cash Shop will lead to more sales of said items. If more people buy the items at a lower cost there is a significant possibility that the revenue generated from those sales will be greater than the revenue generated from the sales of overpriced items to people who have plenty of disposable income.
As someone stated in this thread previously, if, for example, 1,000 people pay 24 bucks to buy Sleipnir, that's 24,000 dollars. If 10,000 people pay 10 bucks that's 100,000 dollars. 76,000 dollars is a significant difference in profit which could be easily acquired by simply having the Sleipnir mount, and future mounts, more reasonably priced. I'd pay 10 bucks for a Sleipnir mount. I feel that is a fair price. I do not feel that 24 dollars is reasonable in anyway, shape, form, or fashion. To me, asking for 24 dollars for a mount is taking advantage of the playerbase rather than trying to do the right thing and make items more available to the entire playerbase. We aren't all rich, ya know? Those of us who are not fortunate enough to have as much disposable income as others shouldn't be left out by an unfair, and unjustifiable, price for a virtual horse or any other mount that may be added at a later time.
This post is just my 2 gil. I don't need anyone to quote me and tell me how my opinion is invalid blah blah blah. I've read the entire thread and for the most part I think a lot of the back and forth arguing is ridiculous. People have opinions. If you do not share the same opinion then post your own. There's absolutely no reason why anyone should be attacking someone else for having a different opinion than someone else about this particular issue. So what if Soandso says he thinks the Cash Shop will ruin the game, and you feel that the Cash Shop will allow SE to have more funds to better the game. There's no reason to attack Soandso. Just post your opinion and move on. I've played other MMOs with Cash Shops. As long as the Cash Shop never has pay to win items then it will be an innocent and welcome addition that will allow us as players to purchase items that we may otherwise not be able to obtain for whatever reason.
Anytime I see that slepnir mount...I just laugh and move on.
I'm a bit alarmed that event rewards are going to be put in there instead of the events replaying. I might miss out on the All Saint's Wake event because I can no longer pay for my sub with paypal due to the recent change and I really wanted those rewards but there's no way I'll be able to afford to buy them with real money. Good for people who can afford it I suppose but I really wish I could've gotten stuff a different way too especially since I can't seem to pay with Paypal at all for anything on this game right now and that's the only way I can pay personally.
As for the mount I'm more disappointed by the lack of six legs on the model than surprised by the price.
Any good pay to play game should have all rewards obtainable in game. If you want to put them up in the cash shop to save time, that's ok, but the ability to obtain in game is vital. Why else are we paying?
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I was a bit surprised that they added the pumpkin heads and the old ghost costumes up there. Why even bother?
As far as the mount goes, yeah I think $24 is ridiculous. But if we don't like the price we don't buy it and thats that.![]()
The price on the mount isn't ridiculous if you compare it to WoW mount pricing which is pretty much the same.
The only thing that ticks me off about mounts is how stale they feel, probably due to how slow they actually move.
Sure it's an improvement to walking but in all honestly, XIV mounts move horribly - if not annoyingly slow.
There's plenty you can obtain in-game..well over 90% more than you can purchase in the cash shop.
Read the terms you clicked "I Agree" to - You're paying for access. not all inclusive rights to everything...you've also agreed to let SE handle things how they choose to, that includes a cash shop, as it basically states the environment (game) is dynamic in terms of monetary purchases. Why else are we paying?
In my opinion the cash shop isn't expensive enough.
For all the people who wanted a cash shop even though it's bad gaming ethics to double-dip in our purse, I say they should pay the price of their mistake.
Square-Enix, by all means, go ahead and TRIPLE the prices please.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
I'm totally pro-cash shop if it has only vanity items, and I'd love to support SE, but I can't afford THAT much. I can't help but wonder how many people like me there are that would buy it if it was a lot cheaper, ultimately making SE more money.. perhaps? Still, it's too late to lower the price for Sleipnir now because there would be an outrage, but perhaps some future items could be in the range of 5 bucks.
