As a casual, I'm fine with housing requiring more heavy prioritizing.

As a casual, I request that specific housing options be added to reflect the casual lifestyle.

When I log out, I want my character to appear snoring indelicately on my FC leader's couch, one hand in a bag of potato chips.

They should also appear there to everyone else who is logged in.

I think the bigger issue might be that there are no houses to buy because a single player can buy a bunch on multiple characters. A casual player who does not log in daily, and only when they have the free time, might (and probably did) lose the opportunity to even buy a house, regardless of having the money to spend.

Purchased my home 3 weeks after player housing became available... I did not get the ward I wanted, nor the plot I wanted... not even the city I wanted. I didn't even get a nice locale in the ward/city that wasn't my choice..

Once again... a priority. I wanted a house.

The problem really isn't housing here... the problem is, many of you are not OK without getting exactly what you want.

It isn't a problem for me, I don't even care about having a house. However, I can see where it would be frustrating for another player. No need to point fingers.

Don't assume your server conditions are the same as elsewhere.

On Adamantoise, for instance, we have absolutely 0 issues with all the houses selling out. I don't even think all of our small plots were purchased from 2.38 yet, nevermind the 2.4 additions. A glance over the subwards at the moment shows me that a lot of them are still empty or near empty.

HOWEVER, Adamantoise is also on the lower end of server size. Lich and Phoenix have twice the number of players we do. Balmung notoriously has had all the small plots sold within minutes of any opening up, every single time - because there's that many people that want housing and have the money, because it's an incredibly active server. In these places, it's not that they have to settle for less ideal housing locations - it's that there literally aren't enough Small plots to go around for player demand (and medium plots cost another 6-10x as much)

Not to mention, the OP specifically stated that they had the funds, but that there was no small housing available to purchase.

I don't feel the issue was simply "oh this person is a casual so they didn't prioritize it enough".

Owning a house was a priority to me. I wanted a house more than I wanted anything else... therefore I simply choose not to spend money until I had a house.

I did not make any extra efforts to gather the money. I simply:

1.) Sold the stuff my retainers were bringing me from ventures. (Casual)
2.) Sold stuff I acquired from Mythology Tombs, GC Seals, Dungeon Chests and other random things I acquired. (Casual)
3.) Sold Glamour Dispellers for 10x or more than what I purchased them for from the vendor. (Casual)
4.) Completely stopped spending money until I had a house. (Over 3 weeks with no extra gil farming.)

You see you CAN earn a house casually. However if it is not a TOP priority for you as an individual you'll find the goal unreachable.
You are missing the forest for the trees:

There are people, who have saved up enough for the housing Size they WANT and literally cannot buy it because by the time they log in on a patch day it is GONE. This has nothing to do with 'work ethic' and everything to do with 'different servers have different populations/housing demands'

Now sure, there are Med/Large plots still open on my server, but if all you wanted was a small, and you have 5mil saved up, you did the 'earn the gil' thing. It's the limited amount of plots that is doing them in. And to some folk, 'just by bigger' isn't what they wish to do. Some people, actually just want a small. (IE they aren't being cheap, small is what suits them).

So yeah, on Mateus, you were able to not only get a house...but as you posted were even able to let the prices drop a bit before you made your purchase....LOL good luck doing that on the 'big' servers with high-demand housing.

Basically, the issue in this thread (as in other similar threads) is the imbalance between popular servers (particularly legacy servers) and all the rest of the servers, due to the fact that the same amount of plots are added to all servers regardless of demand. So long as this huge imbalance exists but SE is restricted to all servers being treated equally, with no ability to add more capacity on some servers and not others, it'll be hard to solve this problem.

I'm supposing there are maybe ~10 servers that are in this "serious housing crunch" situation, while all the rest have supply to spare. (As I said earlier today, on this server, there were still entirely unsold subdivisions more than 12 hours after the patch, and the reverse auction had started ticking; totally opposite from Balmung and Tonberry (etc.).)

Hi there all. So to reiterate: I have maxed all crafting, 3 adventuring jobs and 2 gathering. I am sitting on about 12 million Gil. And I consider myself fairly casual(and extremely thrifty)

My main point was because of bad planning by the devs it would be difficult for players like me to get "lucky" enough to get online in the 15 minutes houses open for sale.

Why not an auction system where anyone can bid up for a 72 hour period?

Is it wrong to want this as badly as i do?
