So you're saying that it's justifiable to lower all gear acquisition requirements so that the casual players will get their gears at a casual pace no doubt but very easily, but hardcore players will get all their gear within a day and complete T12 12 hours after patch 2.4 hits?

It's a meritocracy out there, not a carebear for you only MMORPG (double emphasis on MM). Sure I hate the grind as well, I have a day job I have family time, took me months to even get atmus (i'm not even at animus yet). I'm forever lagging behind on gardening and crafting compared to hardcore players. I've been farming T9 for >6 weeks with my static before patch 2.4 hits on both my main and alt characters. My position is somewhere between a casual player and a hardcore min/max.

But if i ever need to gear up a second character at level 50, be it on the old characters or start a new one, I'll still go through T1 thru T5, for enough ilvl 90 gear. That's where a FC might help in getting players to help you fill up the slots for the run. And TBH there will be groups of desynthesizers running T1 through T5 for allagan drops to desynthesis soon. There's a lot of sneaky backup plans to get old instances involved in the new meta for each patch. You just need to take a more macro view of the game and you will understand why some are so successful in this game.

I'm glad they decelerated the game from 2.3's absurd speed for gearing up that didn't give new 50's time to breathe and learn before being thrust into Extreme-level content.

I'm not glad they're at the mercy of RNG dungeon drops that give trash crafting mats or the whims of the market for crafted i70-i90 gear.

    That's not what I'm saying.
I can understand that the devs may have been upset with how fast people were getting i110 gear and hitting the ilvl cap with farming A and S rank hunts. Doing something to kirb that is perfectly understandable. However, I don't see why the lower level gear had to be completely thrown out. If they were so unhappy with it, they could have put the i80 Darklight gear in there instead. Or even just made them a bit more expensive. Elite mark hunts weren't and still aren't as easy as some of the player base seem convinced they are, nor does absolutely everyone have the time to spare to farm low-level Coil no matter how "easy" it is now.

Seems to me that there is finally a reason for crafted gear to exist ... Fresh 50s can swap their AF set for i70 crafted gear or i90 crafted gear. Depends on how the economy shakes out of course, but that gear should be cheap enough that you could get geared up in a short time.

I do think it's a problem that LotA is almost impossible to get into these days. That gates ST and locks out fresh 50s from the easiest way to gear up.

After reading this I thought ok cool I could grab some gear from the market board for now until I have some better gear. I'm a pld so I need good gear if I'm going to be tanking right? Most are a downgrade but the stuff that would be ok costs around 250k per item. I have 100k lmao.

the whole idea of the gear grind is to better learn your class at 50. frankly, lvl 50 tanking is completely different than 1-49 tanking, and it does take a bit of practice to get used to. use the dungeons you have to go through to get gear to practice using your newfound skills, and adjusting to the newer mechanics.

Lol thats a hella lot of practice. New found skills? I got 2 new skills at 50, I dont think I need to run dungeons 120 times to be able to try my hand at a raid or learn my skills. Maybe 30 runs to adjust like you say. Thats 30 hours of learning give or take. Lets be honest, its to get you to do dailys so that you keep paying a subscription fee. The gear is same price but harder to obtain currency to buy it. You used to get 80 myth for a lvl50 run right? But gear was the same price? So im getting the same thing but it's taking me 4 times slower then the people who did it last week etc?

Thats not even raid gear is it? Thats just the gear to get you into higher lvl dungeons so you can get a better currency for better gear. Lmao if I start now ill be ready around the time the expansion comes out, but then no one will be playing old content anymore. They screwed newer players and those that have decent gear just don't care, cause it's not their problem.

I'm not sure what your leveling experience was, and everyones is different, but personally, when I leveled my pld to 50, I only ran maybe 4 dungeons where I even had shield oath before I hit 50. the proclivity of low level roulette only giving haukke or tam tara was extremely detrimental to learning the pld specific skills in general.

I essentially had to relearn the entire class once I hit 50. getting a feel for just how much added enmity shield oath provided, plus learning how to weave in my circle of scorn and spirits within, plus when to use hallowed ground was one step. Then learning how to handle tanking at speedrun (normal speed) levels was another experience entirely.

Took me maybe 100 dungeons or so before I would have considered myself properly experienced at endgame. more than enough for 2.4 gear progression to i110.
