I don't understand why people are surprised... Myth was progressively made easier to aquire as the game moved from 2.2 to 2.4, allowing faster gearing, etc... We are now at the place the game was right when 2.2 dropped. Sol is uncapped but slower to aquire than Myth was, Poetics are slowest to aquire and are capped. By the time expansion hits everyone will be at least i110 on all their jobs, with many at i120+, it will just take time.

it's because fresh 50 need to grind even more to gear up to do ST/expert, and people working on novus need to grind more. it's something that should'nt happen with a new patch, old stuff can't take more time.

By the time expansion comes out Sol will be as easy to get as Myth was. Sucks that some people had it easy gearing up and others don't, but that's how gear cycles work.

...When 2.0 launched we had Philosophy for Darklight, and Mythology took a long time to get. But DL was good enough to get through most of the content at the time, even the early turns of BC. I guarantee you, soldiery gear + ST gear will be good enough for most of SCoB where most people are still working.

Think of it this way too, you balance out Allied seals and Soldiery to get the full set, then use ST to fill in the gaps. By this I mean, you spend 495 soldiery on one piece, 400 or w/e it is AS on another, while doing ST to get Sands, Oils, and the other pieces. That, plus the Echo buff, should be geared enough for SCoB, easily. It really won't take that long at all.

I think you're underestimating the amount of grinding involved in that.

Allied seals i90 buys were a very simple way for fresh level 50 characters to work on gearing up to tackle the endgame content. Removing them altogether means that the only option fresh 50 characters have to get gear that can take them through all the high-tier content is by spending far more time and effort grinding lower post-50 dungeons to get drops or tomes to buy i100 gear. It feels like instead of lowering the gear ladder down a little to accommodate more top-end stuff, SE just chopped off the bottom rung completely and assumed everyone could leap the gap.

You shouldn't be trying to get full sets. Not only does that not prepare you for accuracy caps and such, but it's inefficient. BC1 is really, really easy now, so there's some i90 + CT + ST + DR's + Hunts, you'll be i80-90 in a day or two, easily. You can clear T5 in i90 or a little higher. You shouldn't be grinding the new Expert DR to get AF2 only, you should be doing it for the tomes and the gear. I don't know how you're playing, but you have many options that you aren't taking advantage of if you are only going for one whole set.

You speak as someone who's crazy about min/maxing. Most players aren't and prefer to wear a full set of armor. I see more people using a full set than not, and only those equipped in the higher tiers tend to worry about missing out on a handful of accuracy.

Personally, this was one of the reasons I really hated the idea of the removal of mythology. They pulled this same crap with the Philosophy tomes and basically made all of the previously easy-to-obtain gear murderously annoying to earn, and even wiped out the crafting materials. Both times! Seriously, it's now 9k for a cashmere fleece! That's worse than daylight robbery, and they STILL haven't increased the rank or seals cap!

Sure, oaknots... blah blah... they're still limited in the number you can earn and therefore still harder to obtain than just outright purchasing them with tomes as in the "good old days". Anyone would think SE absolutely hates crafters with all these horrible patches.

Ugh, seriously with the crafting materials AGAIN!?

I'm sure some people would really like *just* the gear for glamour/desynth.

Put the crafting mats somewhere else!

If you had taken the time to actually read my post you would see where I said "for the occasions I do have time to do something". Now all the time I have has to be dedicated to trying to gain what items to get the armor I need to barely pass the access point to some of the high end content and not die instantly or get kicked because I am not geared high enough for the teams liking. Don't dare say it doesn't happen because it does and has on a few occasions. All this has done is made the divide between the casual and hardcore min/max people nearly insurmountable for anyone with limited time to play.
