So you're saying that it's justifiable to lower all gear acquisition requirements so that the casual players will get their gears at a casual pace no doubt but very easily, but hardcore players will get all their gear within a day and complete T12 12 hours after patch 2.4 hits?

It's a meritocracy out there, not a carebear for you only MMORPG (double emphasis on MM). Sure I hate the grind as well, I have a day job I have family time, took me months to even get atmus (i'm not even at animus yet). I'm forever lagging behind on gardening and crafting compared to hardcore players. I've been farming T9 for >6 weeks with my static before patch 2.4 hits on both my main and alt characters. My position is somewhere between a casual player and a hardcore min/max.

But if i ever need to gear up a second character at level 50, be it on the old characters or start a new one, I'll still go through T1 thru T5, for enough ilvl 90 gear. That's where a FC might help in getting players to help you fill up the slots for the run. And TBH there will be groups of desynthesizers running T1 through T5 for allagan drops to desynthesis soon. There's a lot of sneaky backup plans to get old instances involved in the new meta for each patch. You just need to take a more macro view of the game and you will understand why some are so successful in this game.

I'm glad they decelerated the game from 2.3's absurd speed for gearing up that didn't give new 50's time to breathe and learn before being thrust into Extreme-level content.

I'm not glad they're at the mercy of RNG dungeon drops that give trash crafting mats or the whims of the market for crafted i70-i90 gear.

    That's not what I'm saying.
I can understand that the devs may have been upset with how fast people were getting i110 gear and hitting the ilvl cap with farming A and S rank hunts. Doing something to kirb that is perfectly understandable. However, I don't see why the lower level gear had to be completely thrown out. If they were so unhappy with it, they could have put the i80 Darklight gear in there instead. Or even just made them a bit more expensive. Elite mark hunts weren't and still aren't as easy as some of the player base seem convinced they are, nor does absolutely everyone have the time to spare to farm low-level Coil no matter how "easy" it is now.

Seems to me that there is finally a reason for crafted gear to exist ... Fresh 50s can swap their AF set for i70 crafted gear or i90 crafted gear. Depends on how the economy shakes out of course, but that gear should be cheap enough that you could get geared up in a short time.

I do think it's a problem that LotA is almost impossible to get into these days. That gates ST and locks out fresh 50s from the easiest way to gear up.

Lol I went out of my way to get my first lvl50 pld the day before maintnence for 2.4. Then i went and did some reading and was ready for the whole dungeon runs to get gear. Went and checked prices of any gear I could get (anything that can be bought with tomes). Cheapest piece was 375. Daily gives 80 for lvl50 roulette and 60 for low lvl dungeon.
Other then that the lvl 50 dungeons I can run give 20 per run. So i need to run a dungeon 20 times to get a piece of gear that isnt good enough for raids? How many pieces do I need? 4? 5? I am seriously thinking about cancelling my sub now.

Don't worry - it's not that bad! The easiest way to do this is just to pace yourself, and do the low-level + story mode roulette for a few days in a row. Also, there are some dungeons you can do right away at 50 (without any item level requirement), and they will also drop gear that is progressively higher. With this combination of factors, you'll work your way into more dungeons, and unlock more roulette tiers. You'll also do a quest to upgrade your weapon, and that will push your item level up as well. In addition to all that, you have a bunch of story quests to do still at 50, and that will help improve your gold supply. With the gold, you might be able to pick up a few pieces on the market board that will get you a step higher -- even if it's just item level 55 or 70 to start. And all this is even aside from The Hunt, which is another way to earn a bit of extra tomes and seals (that can eventually get something too).

So anyway, I know that's a lot of things, but the main point is: don't think you need to jump straight to 100+ gear right away. Just keep doing your roulette and unlock dungeons, and your gear will keep on getting better naturally over time through the combination of everything. If your ambition is to be playing the highest-level raids, it'll take a little while to get there, but you'll definitely get there so long as you just keep moving forward step by step.

After reading this I thought ok cool I could grab some gear from the market board for now until I have some better gear. I'm a pld so I need good gear if I'm going to be tanking right? Most are a downgrade but the stuff that would be ok costs around 250k per item. I have 100k lmao.

the whole idea of the gear grind is to better learn your class at 50. frankly, lvl 50 tanking is completely different than 1-49 tanking, and it does take a bit of practice to get used to. use the dungeons you have to go through to get gear to practice using your newfound skills, and adjusting to the newer mechanics.

If your looking for a cheap, easy and FUN way to get i90 level gear - do Frontlines. They've removed the PvP rank from the i90 gear, added additional stats to make them match the PvE counterparts (yes, its basically like PvE gear now), and severely reduced the amount of wolf marks it takes to attain them. You can be fully decked really fast if you queue during prime time. (on a side note, FL is dead atm due to all the new shiny pve junk added, but it should go back to normal in a few weeks)

Plus, that gear looks a thousand times better then that ol' myth garbage

I started playing this game around 2.2, when we still had limited ways to obtain myth outside spamming BL HM (and even then you needed certain ilvl to enter BL HM) and I found it just fine, roulettes alone gave me enough myth to start replacing accessories and overcome the ilvl limits while still getting some soldiery.

Now not only it's close to be how it was in 2.2, it's better! New players get a soldiery bonus the first time they do each dungeon, that along with roulettes is enough to get your pieces in a matter of a couple days, as soon as the new player is i80 they should head straight to ST after doing roulettes and get some more i100 pieces.

I feel like 2.3 spoiled people too much with easy gear.
