Tokyo Fan Festival live translation please

Hi,

I was wondering if we could get a confirmation or not about the fact that there will be a live translation (maybe done by Mr Koji FOX) at the Japan Fan Festival?

For the Fan Fest in Las Vegas and in London, the show was understandable by both japanese and English speakers and i hope just because the last one is held in japan, it won't exclude English speakers.

I don't expect it to. They had to for NA and EU due to the fact almost everybody attending spoke english. Now that they are heading back to Japan it will be back to JP only I'm willing to bet. Of course the JP fan fest will likely have the most reveals as well. Alot of 2.5 plus more new jobs and info for expansion.

I also doubt it'll have be translated. We had both Eng/Jap in the other two because it was necessary, I'm sure it'd have been only in English if everyone involved spoke it fluently.

We'll just have to wait for the images to make their way to the forums, those will have English on them at least.

They'll probably want an English translation if they want to sell more premium streams. I'd imagine the cost of translation is much lower than the expected revenue from bringing in an English speaking audience.

The problem is, Japanese could easily purchase live streams for both the LV and the LDN FanFests, because obviously it was sure they'd understand whatever would be said. (Heck, some even attended these, apparently.) The other way around though, it's neither as simple nor as straightforward, as most Western people don't speak Japanese, so without a live translation, it's kind of pointless for us to pay for the premium stream - not only is practically everything getting liveblogged anyway but in this case if even the translation is being done by enthusiast players, then there's really no reason for it. I say it'd make sense for SE to have live translations (I understand the game is Japanese, but the playerbase is very much international; the live letters are one thing, but this is quite a special event) in Tokyo too if they wanna make sure they get as much money from premium stream sales as possible... but yeah, I can also see why they would not want to do that (necessity vs optional). Oh well....

I really wish they would do an English/Japanese translation but I doubt they will. Which is a shame. because I really think the live letters and keynotes translated on the fly are much better than watching the JP only streams.

I bought the NA and EU stream subscriptions and am completely happy and willing to buy the Japanese one too IF (and only if) I can understand what's being said.

Since we lost Reinheart, I gave up on watching the live letters and instead just wait for people to post stuff about them here. The inability to understand anything but a word here or there is frustrating and uncomfortable.

As a lot of the contents of both the live letters and the fanfests seem to be scripted (not counting on the spot audience participation), I can see no reason that script could not also be given to someone who can translate it in time to have it at least up on the screen as subtitles (considering most actually in Japan will be able to understand Japanese, it's unlikely they'll need it). For that which cannot be translated ahead of time, an official live running translation like Reinheart used to unofficially do would be fantastic.

Of course, in an ideal world, I'd like Koji or someone to translate out loud just as he has at the other fanfests, but I think written is easier, faster and cheaper for SE.
