    Honestly if I was living in the USA i'd be perfectly fine with exactly where the servers are at. The ping even to europe is not so bad.

    People using PC.
    Run-
    Regedit-
    Hkey local machine
    system
    current control set
    services
    tcpip
    parameters
    inferfaces
    click on the folders inside of interfaces untill you find one with the file on the right side which has the dhcp ip adress of 192.168.1.x or whatever ip addresses your router gives out.

    inside of the area on the right there. right click and create new dword 32
    name it TcpAckFrequency
    make sure its just like that with capitals.
    right click the new file after renaming it and modify. change the 0 to a 1 and make sure it reads hexidecimal. push ok
    right click in the empty space again and create another new dword 32
    name it TCPNoDelay
    make sure it's just like that with capitals

    close regedit
    restart PC
    enjoy games with 50% less ping

    what this does is changes an old TCPIP protocol that for some reason is still put into windows nowadays, which was originally created for slower lines such as 56k to load websites in chunks.
    its definatly not ideal for gaming or highspeed internet and causes higher latency inside of games.

    But this is only true if you're using Dial up, or speeds that are nearly as slow as that.
    You will not encounter any issues with this.
    Only scenario in which it "COULD" and this is highly emphasized as a very very insanely small probabilty, is if you're running off of a hotspot from a cellphone.
    All you have to do is delete those 2 files to revert to the original state.


    for other people who don't know much about this, it is esentially the "leatrix fix"

    I live about a 2 hours drive away from Montreal, and the latency I get is astounding. I don't think it's the server location that is the problem, OP.

    Just a word of caution about tinkering with the Nagle Algorithm... in some cases it can slow down network performance. This can increase your ACK traffic--you are removing a default 200ms delay in a check/balance routine used for congestion control. Under some circumstances, it can cause some periodic flooding and collisions on networks, depending on the topology and such. It's mostly a tweak applied in server environments... in fact, I think it's ignored in Win8 now with all the auto-tuning that goes on.

    I played around with this for awhile. I live in Sydney AUS, so either way I'll be screwed linking to JP or NA servers, but I tested it.

    Funnily enough? Any connections I made to US had at least 20+% packet loss. Chicago is probably the best at 22% loss. Washington DC takes the cake at 66% (wtf?).

    But connecting to Montreal? 0.35% packet loss. Sure, I have an UGLY latency (314ms) but I can live with it. I can't handle packet loss though. I think I'll take the servers where they currently are over wherever you propose in the US to be.

    EDIT: To Tokyo, by public net, I have a latency of 286ms...but 49% packet loss. Yea, I think I may stick to NA servers for awhile.
