Newish WHM questions.

i100 and you've been level 50 for a week.. I feel like such a scrub. I made WHM my main job 2 and a half months ago and i still have yet to clear Titan Ex or get to i100. My advice to the OP is to just keep doing whatever you are doing. Its obviously working for you.

The High Allagan Ring is viable, despite it having spell speed. A proper White Mage build has a certain amount of piety in it that you find comfortably to heal with and, to an extend, swap-able pieces depending on encounter. However, there are better pieces to swap out for piety compared to the ring (HA choker vs Sol Choker, for example) for this sole purpose unless you require a full piety build for some reason.

Concerning the OP in question: Healing at 60% or 70% or even 10% depends on how much healing you put out and how much HP the tank should have at that moment. You should consider how much healing is required to top them off, rather than looking how full their HP bar is. Even if this leads to some overhealing. Overhealing is generally not a good thing being a waste of MP after all. But overhealing never killed anyone - Try to aim for a low percentage as possible.
But if the scholar is the tank babysitter, you should worry about the group over the tanks (but not completely neglecting them). In this case you need to consider using Medica, Medica II or Cure III. In most situations just one medica is sufficient (especially with Divine Seal)*.

*There are too many white mages out there that either: Spams Medica II or casts Medica II and tops everyone off with a follow-up Medica. Please don't do this.

What are you waiting for!! It's great fun!! AoE's are WHM bread and butter!!
A good way to break into 8 mans to get a feel would be queuing up for main scenario content. That's how I learned, it's relatively safe considering you get speedrun focused experienced players. The instances practically run themselves!

I like raiding as a WHM, CT, ST, HM & EX Primals, all 8 man content is fun to me. Even the ones that are PUG'ed, nothing is more fun/rewarding for me than getting a challenging run and we come out on top because the WHM (me) saved the day!

I dont get all the WHMs out there that under value piety. More MP to spend means more cures, it also means more mp back from the static mp regen. In my current(personal BiS) the 2% mp per 3 seconds gives me cures worth of mp back ever 6 seconds. Thats HUGE in fights like T9 where you're fighting for about 10 mins. I can literally do the full fight and be sitting at around 75%+ mp.

And that is why Piety isn't valued as a top priority by all WHMs. If you have that much MP sitting around that you didn't need to dip into, then your Piety is way, way higher than you needed it to be, and it's not really benefiting you.

Piety + Spell Speed builds are great for solo-healing. General builds focusing on Det are better for 2-healer fights.
