Not sure what to make of fishing

to op... its simple skip that rod and go for the supra instead.

I just did it and it took about 4hrs in all to catch the 3 olgoi-khorkhoi I needed.... oh and they don't need to be hq.

basically have a full set of gear melded and use the i70 jewellery melded with perception and gather then use the fc buffs for +10. this should put you at the requirements for the catch. doesn't guarantee a catch every time as 4 got away on me before I got my 3 but its a lot quicker and easier than catching those sovereigns.

Super frustrating. I already have the forager rod AND hat, along with fully melded gear. Every olgoi-khorkhoi I've hooked so far has gotten away.

It's worth noting to do this you really have to have pretty much everything else at absolute max to even come close to catching them, since I think the max possible Gathering without the Supra right now is about 355 or so (and that's including Food/FC buffs) and the minimum for Olgoi is ~348 or something. This may be easier with the i60 body/arms/pants/legs incoming... however you're going to be shelling out an arm and a leg for them for a while.

Also speaking of which the Supra will cost you an arm and a leg because you'll also need to turn in 3 Mastercraft Demimateria and 10 Fieldcraft III Demimateria (this is about 2.5 million gil on my server)

Getting the HQ Silver Sovereign was definitely my least favourite part of Fisher though, but at least all those NQ sovereign will raise the hell out of your desynth level.

Supra Fishing Rod only costs 1 Mastercraft Demimateria, but yeah still expensive.

Sovs drove me to the brink of quitting so many many times. I am fairly sure I lost my sanity in order to cope with that phase. Mostly because having the same gear as my friend, they got their hq's 3x as fast as I did. But hey, I saved my nq's and spammed my desynth up quite a bit (don't get rid of the nq's).

If you play on pc, you can set your game up so that you can watch a movie and fish in the background.

Btw, 16 hours is nothing.

Feel reassured that the Halcyon Supra is relatively easy by comparison.

Edit: Don't avoid fishing for sovs during mahi times! I've caught just as many if not more hq sovs during mahi times. I think my rate went up a lot faster once I stopped skipping out during mahi times, to be completely honest.
