    Who decided crafters don't matter anymore?

    So maybe there is something bigger in store for crafters down the road but without knowing what it is how are they not getting screwed right now? Note: I am not a crafter.

    I am referring to NMs dropping weapons instead of materials to be made into nice gear. Now I do think it is nice to have some untradable gear dropped so we can save a little money from buying everything but I still feel like it should be mixed so crafters are needed in the game.

    My proposal: let's say an axe has a 10% drop rate, then make it 5% chance of a normal axe and 5% of a broken axe a crafter can fix. Then they have a job and we get chances at HQ gear. Win win.

    The numbers are just examples. What say you?

    1.19 comes with the Materia system and reworks to recipes, probably along with some other stuff they haven't told us about yet.

    Dropping gear is fine IMO, I'll wait and see what the Materia system is like before I say crafters are being ignored :P

    EDIT: Oh and crafters are still absolutely needed. Durability loss on death makes them even more valuable since they're still the only way to get your equipment repaired to 100%.

    EDIT2: Oh and I like your idea as well, though I bet a lot of people would be pretty pissed if they got the broken axe.

    I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

    Ooh I forgot materia. I still think this is a good idea and certainly won't hurt anything. Still stimulates the economy and provides HQ weapons for those that want to try.

    The weapons the NMS drop are good, but honestly the best weapons in the game are still crafted for every single class. It is just the NQ and HQ+1 are not as good anymore. The +2/+3 weapons still outclass the dungeons drops by a decent margin.

    I do wish SE would make more things Craftable that are dropped from dungeons. Everything droping a finished item will eventually hurt the economy. Gil has to be of value, atm the new expansion made it worth less honestly. One of the negative of this patch.

    Yes, as I repeatedly said over and over and over again for months.

    I think the gear that drops from the dungeons (especially the travesty that is the Bladedancer boots) really should have been crafted.

    From both sides of the argument it is a terrible decision

    1. Not being crafted means there are no +1, +2, +3 version available for new items, which means that if an old +3 item is better, then there is no point using nor obtaining the new patch weapons.
    2. Not being crafted means that if a new item is equal to a crafted +2 or +3 weapon from before the patch, this makes people feel like they wasted a lot of time. Since it's so much less effort just to kill a mob than to gather materials for a +2 or +3.
    3. Not being crafted means gil becomes increasingly worthles
    4. Not being crafted means crafters have less to do
    5. Not being crafted means players have less interacton with eachothers, diluting the sense of being in an MMO and playing with others.

    It's like you can't win...

    I see your point but there needs to be motivation for crafters to rank up to the point of being able to HQ like that. We will see if materia is motivation enough or not. I am also sure it is easier for SE to balance finished items easier than +123 variants.
