Is Sharlayan going to have a place on 3.0 ?

What exacly we know of Sharlayan so far? It is still a city-state or not? Also, if Ishgard is having so many troubles with the dragons, knowing that Sharlayan is on Dravania, the home place of the dragons, why they seem not having any problems? or not.

It seems probable that we'll go to the abandoned Sharlayan colony in Dravania, since it's in the primary region of the expansion, yes. It's less likely that we'll go to their island home (also called Sharlayan). It seems more likely that would be involved in the 2nd expansion which may be "Sea" themed. Somehow the Students of Baldesion and their vanishing island (which may be the Sharlayan one?) may also play a role in all that.

And devs mentioned they already have the art of old Sharlayan time ago, so it's very probable we'll see it in 3.0. Maybe as dungeon? (hope not though, i want to explore it..)

I was thinking the Sharlyon in Dravania was the origenal one that was abbandoned for reasons unknown long before the island by the same name was founded. I remember some mention from 1.0's NPCs that The Origenal Sharlyon was a "City of the Dead" aka a Necropolis. Would seem to me that if it was then Garlemauld, Ishgaurd, and any one else for that matter would have any number of reasons to want the lost knowlage held withen the ruins of the former city state. It was said that Sharlyon was as advanced in magic as garlemauld is technology so the two put togeather may rivel even old Allage's power.

I thought that Sharlayan was a city-state not a colony and that then something happened. Also not that they had a great knowledge of Eorzea, aether and deep ancient info? I could be wrong of course

It's both Their island form the City-state of Sharlayan, while their colony in Dravania is also called Sharlayan. Iirc, they left the colony when Garlemald started invading Eorzea and moved to invade them (knowledge, not war guys).
The Children of Baldesion Minfillia talks about a lot are located somewhere in the Sharlayan city-state (the "main land").

I'm guessing we won't be going to the island Sharlayan in 3.0 which makes me sad. It would be the perfect place to have the lore library that Fernehalwes really wants to have.

It'd be neat to visit Sharlayn, but keep in mind that it would definitely be the abandoned colony in Dravania for 3.0, not the island nation.

In your podcast Koji made it sound like the abandoned Sharlayn is decently far away from the danger of the Dragons. So is Sharlayn even in Dravania? Perhaps its in the bordering regions or coastlines? I know there's the map but its hardly to scale.

I guess it's because the biggest part of the dragon "army" must be around Ishgard's border, since it's where the threat is. Also, Sharlayan seems to be on a plain where Dragons are usually in mountains. Not impossible they'd also be here, but I doubt they have any interest in keeping troops in an abandoned city that doesn't fight.
