Why would the make a new relic? So newcomers/returning players don't get stuck behind trying to do "old content". Do you really think people are going to want to run the old dungeons a lot when new expansion comes out? They barely do it now. This is the same reason they give echo to coil.

I bet the zodiac weapon quest will end once 3.0 comes out. It will become a vanity weapon since their plans were, at some point, to have it change the animations of certain skills.
