Keep past content out of Cash Shop

i've been collecting minions and mounts ever since i started playing this game, i currently have 69 minions and a few mounts (best tribes are killing me), but i refuse to pay real money to get a minion or a mount. last time i checked, that's called RMT and is against the ToS. but, as we can see with the cash shop, RMT is allowed as long as Square Enix is the seller. soon we will have no more gil seller spam, instead, cash shop "spam" every time you log in and on your email!

I started playing FF14 earlier this year, and throughout the year I've had to see all of the event rewards other players have obtained. Obviously, I wanted them for myself as well. So, I did a lot of searching on the internet. I had to figure out where the items came from, which events, when they made their appearance, and then hope those events get reused. I was so happy to see the Moonfire Faire make a reappearance, because I really wanted a yukata for my character. Another item I saw was the ghost costume, which was very cute, and I definitely wanted to collect this during the next All Saint's Wake event. When the event announcement showed up on the lodestone I checked it out, and then I noticed the rewards. They were different. However, during my seasonal event research, I noticed a trend where they kept adding to what was offered during seasonal events; past and new items both made appearances. <cont. next post>

But then, while watching the premium fanfest stream, the ghost costume showed up during the cash shop slides. I went from "looking forward to it" - to forgetting about obtaining it. It was a let down, maybe even a little disappointing, but I wasn't heartbroken over it. I didn't lose faith or trust in Square Enix's FF14 staff or the direction of the game.

TL;DR - While I'd like to support you OP, unfortunately, I cannot. My support is in Square Enix's FF14 staff. The previous items, for seasonal event rewards, may not be obtainable for free anymore, but they did give us new items to make the new players jealous until next year's event(s).

I definitely feel like this was out of Yoshi's hands, at least I hope it was. This shift doesn't feel like what we've been given in the past. Also, when Yoshi went over the cash shop, he seemed to rush past it and didn't really have much of anything to say other than "only vanity." I could be wrong, but I'd like to hope the blame for this is on someone else and not Yoshida.

I think that's great that you took a negative situation and turned it into a positive. Normally, I would do the same. However, this petition is for people just like you. You may not want to support a movement such as this, but hopefully you won't have to! If we're able to show SE through a positive and constructive petition maybe they'll change their minds and adjust how this is being handled. Whether or not this petition goes through at this point does not determine its success in my eyes. The fact that this community has come together in such a constructive and intelligent manner has impressed me beyond belief. Let it be known this isn't just another 'mmo' community, we're FFXIV players and that means something. ^^

You don't have to submit so easily. Also it's not necessarily the dev staff i'm worried about. Those guys are making the content. It's the other branch that got the dim idea that we are cash cattle. I know this is different from the OP, but relates, like I've asked before, would you rather obtain items in game or spend more on top of your sub fee?

Exactly! What is with this attitude that there is nothing that can be done and that we don't have a voice? The economic situation has forced many consumers to be more selective with their purchase and this in turn forces companies to do more in order to not lose business.
If you don't think that just posting on the official forums about it is going to get us heard then how about also posting on the subreddit or other communities dedicated to the game? The community team pays attention to the former and been alleged that they do so with the latter as well. Hell, why not approach them on the game's or SE's various social media accounts? Or send out an email to the public relations team? Best of all why not try and gather a group to do it en masse and make it a roaring chorus that they cannot in good judgement ignore?
You know what I've been trying to do? I've been compiling a list of all the different ways we can contact SE to do just that.

Cash cattle? As I recall XIV operated at a loss for at least a year so they could provide you with a better service. They then gave you a discounted sub for legacy membership. Its unkind to bite the hand that feeds you. SE went above and beyond what any company would do in a similar situation. Try to be grateful.
