    a while ago, i think with the live letter for 2.1, yoshi-p was asked about the ability to switch between the ego's and carbuncle, and he said he would bring it up with the team, after that it seems to of gone dead, but people and the rumours say that with the expansion and the new ego's we'll be getting then, we will get the ability to choose what summon we bring out.

    Oh gosh, that would be amazing if it's true. I'd totally give that job a shot if I could have my precious carbuncle with me.
