And event items were purchasable in-game before. They always came back around the next time for purchase.
And yes, I did know. I don't usually miss events. But I look at the bigger picture: this is about EVERYONE. Everyone pays for this game already, we shouldn't have to pay extra on top for cash shop exclusives (which there will be - they've already said so). And this is just the beginning. We all know what SE are like by now. It's only a matter of time before everything you want will be cash shop exclusive. :/
Well last I checked, Bluebird is still in the game. It's also not in the Cash Shop. Seems like you can still get that "good feeling" if you get one.... That also could be a rare drop in game so it would be something to work towards, and sell it on the Marketboards to try to make some gil. Everything including glamour stuff has a purpose within the game, economics is apart of it. Remember Bluebird? How hard it is to get it, and when you finally got it, you knew deep inside that you will be soon net 300k-2 mil.
Cash Shop exclusives shouldn't be considered as lost potential. Just pretend like they never would have existed without the Cash Shop, because they probably wouldn't have.

PS3 limitations
I was sorely disappointed by the Halloween seasonal event. There are only two items you can purchase with cookies. Two. And they're one-use items. 16 cookies and you're done. What's the point? Where's all the cool seasonal loot? Oh, I guess it's in the cash shop. Yay.
I don't mind them selling purely cosmetic items in the cash shop if they were available by other means as well. Put up seasonal items that are out of season, like the swimsuits from the summer event, but still offer them in-game during the seasonal events. That would be fair. This is just shit.

That Odin Mount? Yeah that should be in the game as a drop for the Odin Fight ( when ever it comes.) Not as an exclusive item. I have zero problem with Seasonal items on the cash shop, but the Odin mount? The Wind up dolls? I see it those as lost potential of what could have been rare drops and make the economics part of the game better.
This shouldn't be a regular thing happening. Odin Mount? a it's fine it's only 1, How about a Dragon Mount? ah it's okay it's only for show anyways. and the trend continues to not use those mounts ( or wind-up dolls) as potential buy products in FFXIV. It is Wasted potential.
That's how I see it anyways. Take it as you will.
Hyperbole much? If that was SE's master plan, then the latest round of minions wouldn't have been in the game. Most vanity items will still be attainable in game and, from the look of it, only past seasonal vanity will be in the store. Yes they'll do shop exclusives, but it looks like it will be a tiny fraction of vanity content.
Insanity is a gradual process, don't rush it - Ford Prefect
If this game was only be about fighting things there would be no glamours, no mounts other than chocobo, no vanity gear, no houses, no minions, no dyeing, etc etc etc. Even if it's "just vanity", vanity is a big part of the game for a lot of players, which is why there was so much demand for things like the glamours to change gears appearance. Vanity is probably one of the biggest gil-sinks in the game apart from houses.
It only appeared in the events shop for players that have completed the quests, as far as I know.
This gives the chance for players who missed the event and would go the extra mile just to get them
