Miss out on what? A pet? Oh man, that's really going to hinder my playstyle. I'll never clear coil now.
... That also could be a rare drop in game so it would be something to work towards, and sell it on the Marketboards to try to make some gil. Everything including glamour stuff has a purpose within the game, economics is apart of it. Remember Bluebird? How hard it is to get it, and when you finally got it, you knew deep inside that you will be soon net 300k-2 mil.

Well last I checked, Bluebird is still in the game. It's also not in the Cash Shop. Seems like you can still get that "good feeling" if you get one.... Cash Shop exclusives shouldn't be considered as lost potential. Just pretend like they never would have existed without the Cash Shop, because they probably wouldn't have.

PS3 limitations

If this game was only be about fighting things there would be no glamours, no mounts other than chocobo, no vanity gear, no houses, no minions, no dyeing, etc etc etc. Even if it's "just vanity", vanity is a big part of the game for a lot of players, which is why there was so much demand for things like the glamours to change gears appearance. Vanity is probably one of the biggest gil-sinks in the game apart from houses.

Last time I checked the Nutkin pet was 7mil on excal (more than a small house). That clearly shows pets are a big part of the game to a lot of people. It may not take away from your play style having pets in the cash shop, but many people get a lot of enjoyment out of hunting these things down and finally getting the drop. After all isn't that what a game is about? giving you pleasure and entertaining you? If people find enjoyment in something other than endgame then a cash shop is taking away from their experience.
It's also a matter of principal, nobody enjoys being asked to pay extra when they are already paying for something. The whole reason a lot of people play sub games is to avoid cash shops and Yoshi P even mentioned in the past that our sub would cover all content, seems they decided now that 2.5 million players subbing wasn't lining their pockets enough.

I completely agree with you. I understand players put a lot of weight into non-vanity content, but not everyone in the community feels this way. I know plenty of endgame people that use glamour; vanity has to have some sort of merit. I know I specifically avoid F2P games in order to not have to deal with a wealthy few dictating what the company will work on in order to provide cash shop exclusive content. Time and time again these companies have proven once they're offered an inch they'll take a mile. Even WoW promised it would only be a vanity cash shop, they offer now offer xp boosts and basic guild services we enjoy today like simply changing their guild name.
Whether a cash shop is acceptable or not is a debate that the MMO community has had for years now. However, questioning these business practices is a healthy exchange between a business and it's consumer.

So you're saying that you think minions should be marked as untradeable? After all, if people buy them from the MB, then they're not hunting them down themselves...
...and the CE minions are already only available via an extra cash purchase. What's the difference?
It is that simple. I didn't purchase extra retainers because I didn't want to. I didn't buy out my fantasia allocation because I didn't want to. Mounts and Minions are in-game and plenty will be, the only thing you're missing out on, based on even that little list, are mostly items if you CHOSE not to play FFXIV 1.0 or missed out last year, meaning you already missed out.
Did you know? You missed out on Wind up Minfilla if you didn't buy her in the anniversary event ^^.

And event items were purchasable in-game before. They always came back around the next time for purchase.
And yes, I did know. I don't usually miss events. But I look at the bigger picture: this is about EVERYONE. Everyone pays for this game already, we shouldn't have to pay extra on top for cash shop exclusives (which there will be - they've already said so). And this is just the beginning. We all know what SE are like by now. It's only a matter of time before everything you want will be cash shop exclusive. :/
