I wonder what they can do without shutting the Servers down. It seems nothing can be done by just letting people download a Patch or by fixing something when the Servers are live and online. Nothing, lol. The number of "Emergency" maintainances they need is ridiculous. Yeah, they only do it for us, I know and they are quick in fixing things Yadda Yadda but Goddamnit, why on Earth do you always need several hours downtime for everything?

Four hours to implement one line of Code for the golden dye? Sounds reasonable. Eeeh no. Do more testing or provide us with a test realm before Release to prevent heavy usage of Emergency maintainances. Seems the players find the bugs and glitches in one day you don't find during the development process. And for the Love of the Elder, do something about your Patch processes so you do not have to shut down everything for the smallest things.

After over 20 years of MMORPGs people still don't understand it takes awhile for the whole process, not what they tell us they're doing. Unless you have a super computer, I bet it takes a little time for your PC to reboot, doesn't it? Now multiply that by a couple hundredx in a giant server farm with multiple processes and resynchronization....

I am sure they do more than they tell us and I can imagine that rebooting a Server farm takes longer than a few minutes. My question was, why can it never be a Patch or something they can change while Servers are live? Why must there always be a downtime included? That's the question I have since Release.

Is it cheaper (I guess each patch in PSN costs them something)? Is it because of PS3 limitations? Is it a matter of the tools they use? I'd just like to know. And on a side note, with a European Server I wouldn't even have to worry about it because then their maintainances would happen while I sleep and not in the morning till noon so they affect me when I have a day off or am ill at home. Without knowing why, I just assume that the way they do it is the cheapest way possible for them and it is not the best choice from a customer perspective.

About 4-5 seconds for mine, from POST to workable desktop /brag :P
