It'd also be very silly to quit for something that doesn't affect you at all in-game.The only thing SE would understand clearly is subs tanking like an iron weight into the Marianas trench....
... but people are both too addicted to the game and too attached to the characters they've invested thousands of hours into in order to abandon it all to make a protest of that magnitude.
And even if 10% of the subs quit, the remaining players who buy anything and everything the cash shop offers will make up the difference, and then some.
It doesn't affect you, clearly. But it affects the rest of us. I have to ask, did you at least read the recent pages?
Things that available only in the cash shop and not in game affect everyone. It is not a simple "if you don't like it don't use it" because it's something that we don't get anymore that would have been in the game. Where our monthly subscription fee would have allowed us to obtain these items through playing the game we no longer can and can only get them through paying more money.
Clearly vanity items to you mean nothing and everyone else shouldn't care about them either because the core of the game is still there and it's not pay to win.
But the way you play =/= everyone else's. Many people play to collect these things and to do everything BUT fight in dungeons or do raids or get gear.
Uh, if you care so much about them, I honestly don't know why you can't be bothered to save some money on the side to pay for them. :l Honestly though, to completely quit the entire game over something that just stands around and looks cute while you craft or something seems silly to me.
I certainly plan on saving a bit on the side for the mog plushie, personally. I think it's a sweet deal to get both an adorable plushie and a minion out of it. *shrug*
Though those players would've quit a loooong time ago when the CE and sountrack minions were released if they're so passionate about collecting them all without paying extra. Heck, one minion is pre-order only and is no longer available.
Because we shouldn't have to now use more money on anything. For 4 years this game has been out and we got these items through playing and we got access to everything released because we pay a subscription few. Now that's been downgraded to only cover the basics and if we want more we have to pay more. That's not right.aybe it's fine in other games but when a company blatantly tried to take as much money from me as possible I don't support them. The game was not failing so this is not a tactic to survive, this is simply greed.Uh, if you care so much about them, I honestly don't know why you can't be bothered to save some money on the side to pay for them. :l Honestly though, to completely quit the entire game over something that just stands around and looks cute while you craft or something seems silly to me.
Wether they change it back or not, it's a plus for the company and a negative for everyone who plays. And lowers my respect for the company
...Do I really have to repeat myself to you? Nothing has changed. There have been both free and paid for minions since launch. Also, you're taking this waaay too personally and you seem to be forgetting that this is in fact a company with huge game budgets and large staff.Because we shouldn't have to now use more money on anything. I'm not gonna argue about why it's not the same thing. If you can't see how you get a physical item with those that you would otherwise never have then I can't help you. Your still ignoring the fact that the company is not doing this for the survival of the game but simply for greed to get more money. Screwing your fans to fill your pockets is not a company I like to support. It's a personal opinion. Clearly you don't feel the same. But don't try to belittle our opinion by treating us like children...Do I really have to repeat myself to you? Nothing has changed. There have been both free and paid for minions since launch. SE is a business they are there to make money. They aren't making FFXIV as some form of charity. I can not fault them for wanting to make more money it is their job to do so. This is a good business strategy selling extra items in online games and there is proof that it works well. An example Blizzard released their first mount on their shop they made 80 million in the first day. SE doesn't have as many players as Blizzard but the huge success of their shop shows that it works. Console dlc which SE also does has proven successful as well.I'm not gonna argue about why it's not the same thing. SE does research and analytics on this type of change to their game in order to see if they will make or lose money. If amount of money lost due to people upset about the change < money gained by happy customers buying items in the new shop. Then SE will go ahead and side with making more money despite losing a few upset customers.
If I see minions or mounts I want to buy I would gladly buy them because I like to support games and companies that develop content I like.

You're not going to argue with me about how they're the same thing because you have no good points to make about it and you're just mad at this point.
Oh my gosh, a company is trying to profit, how terrible of them. They are incredibly greedy people to sell plushies that give you in-game minions of all the horrible things. How exactly is selling some minions 'screwing over' the fans? They're simply doing something that you don't like, but really doesn't affect a lot of people. It's vanity stuff that you don't need, stop acting like it's the end of the world and SE is evil.
Also, you clearly have no idea how business works and the kind of high budgets that games require as well as staff pay for their hard work. FFXIV alone costed over 600 million to make.
Oh and your last sentence about treating you like a child only shows how sensitive of a person you truly are. You should really consider not taking things so personally and maybe you'll learn to took at this in a more logical standpoint rather than an emotional one. :l
I also see no point in stating that it's an opinion. Yes, you have an opinion and I have mine. What does saying that accomplish? Clearly they're opinions.
...yet.
The fact that they arent selling P2W yet doesnt mean they wont, and do you honestly believe SE isnt going to sell anything and everything they can to make more money?
Even if they somehow avoid that path, whenever they come up with something nice, they'll have a choice of making it earnable in game, or sell it for cash on the shop... Gee, I wonder which one the bean counters will push for.....
Its a bad move, period, and bodes ill.
*hands you a tinfoil hat*...yet.

I don't see any proof backing up your statement. SE seems to care much more about their game and the customers a heck of a lot more than other MMOs I've played. Yes, they are a company trying to be successful (oh no), but that doesn't automatically mean they'rte going to go overboard with it.
