Keep past content out of Cash Shop

This is the petition thread. For some unknown reason the forum mods have decided to edit the title of the thread; yet leave other threads up with a petition label. If you're looking for the petition to take back free items that were once offered and are now being sold to us, you've come to the right place.

Hello,

I want to present a petition for the community to review and hopefully support. There's a lot of ruckus going on with the Cash Shop. Is it fair to double dip? Is it double dipping? Is it expected for SE to do this b/c other major MMO's are perpetuating the trend? Well, I can't answer those questions, nor can I say this petition addresses those issues.

However, the issue this petition raises is to keep past content that was available in the game previous out of the cash shop. The items I'm referring are costumes and event items from previous years that were sold during the event. The npcs that sold these items were taken out after the event concluded. These NPC's are not placed back in game during this event due to the items being placed in the cash shop. It's easy for us as a community to become segregated and antagonistic towards each other: if it doesn't affect me, why should I care? The short answer, because eventually this could affect you. If you want to make a new character up to date with your previous character you would have to pay $30 for the past Halloween content (4 pumpkin heads and 2 ghost outfits).

Please, SE take the past event items down from the cash shop and offer them to players in game during the events as you have in the past. This was a feature enjoyed by many of your customers. Please do not take it away from us and future players. Provide past content in game as you have before.

[Edit:] I apologize, but I am not 100% if these items will be account bound or per character. I was under the impression they were per character due to the change in fantasia. However, I cannot claim this is fact. I apologize if this caused any issue to anyone. I still feel the point still stands this business practice is unfair to take free items and sell them in game. To clarify, these NPCs were placed during these events. After the event concluded they were taken out along with the other event festivities. These NPCs were not replaced in the current event due to the items now being sold in the cash shop.

For those that continue to argue this is not the case and refer to the calamity salvage NPC, that's not what this petition is for. There was a NPC that sold these items during the event for those that hadn't finished previous events. Here's proof:

Disagree with my post? Please comment and explain why! Perhaps you feel this isn't a huge deal. Let me offer this option then.

Please SE, provide past content items in game during the event as you have in the past to be purchased. During off season provide these items in the cash shop for set prices ($5 per yearly event set: example - $5 = 4 pumpkin heads, $5 = both ghost costumes, etc).

SE could at least clarify if these items will still be available for purchase in game during the holiday events. If this is the case then I have no issue with those items being for sale during the rest of the year for those who wish to obtain them.

I checked this morning, the vendor that usually sells these past items is not in game. So far, they are not offering these items like before, otherwise I agree with you and I wouldn't have made this petition

I disagree, but that's because I don't mind the content being missable. It encourages participation in events, and the cash shop is a way around that. I am not a fan of the shop in general, but I woul like to see new events with new stuff and leave the old stuff behind, and the cash shop is a good way for those who do not wish to participate to get the stuff they want.

Personally, I don't care what they put in the cash shop, levels, gear, even better gear than I have now, it won't make me enjoy the game or my process any less

Edit: but I don't want gear, or classes, or anything of game value In there

I def see where you're coming from. I feel like this petition couldn't hurt anyone in the long run though and only prove a positive. Thanks for your thoughts, great to see other people's perspectives on this kind of thing

In Ul'dah the Calamity Salvager has the pumpkin heads for 47gil and the ghost costumes for 98gil under Seasonal Event Rewards (Gear) I. Not sure if it is there because I already have done this or if it is there for everyone.

I believe that's only if you completed the events. The salvager sells you items you already acquired in the event you lose your items.

I believe that's a rebuy if you have already done the seasonal quests before.

This is the second event that we are having for the second year.
First was Moonfire Faire.

When those events first introduced in ARR, yes they did sell old items that was obtainable in 1.xx.
Sadly, I do not recall old items/rewards for this year's Moonfire Faire that was introduced in last year's event that was obtainable through quest being sold via NPC this year. Sorry for that.

So, if the developers were to reintroduced these rewards via cash shops and all... That's their choice. To me, these are just collection which doesn't really add value to my progression.

Hence, I am don't really care about it.
