Cash shop confirmed

I don't think they ever said they were pulling content to be sold in the cash shop. Just because Sleipnir is in there now doesn't mean he won't also be a drop in a trial. They could also do things for the minions, such as anni rewards down the line like Minfilia and Thancred were. Seems to be a "I want it now and here's some money" deal.

I'm sure they used the word "exclusive". But hey, if they do indeed have plans to get them in-game, I eat all my words.

No. But people asked for things like vanity and vials/namechanging to be sold like WoW does. Hell, there are a few threads within the first couple pages now with it. Again. You want it, you buy it. Not everything comes for free. Just be glad things like XP increases and whatnot are not being sold yet.

Vials and name changing and server transfers are a bit different. You buy them if you messed up or simple feel the need to. They don't add anything to your account someone else doesn't have. And I sure am grateful they specifically stated no P2W items of any kind would be coming.

It could be that. Although even with that arrangement, I could see some players getting upset about that. When it comes to vanity items, I honestly do not mind the 'Get in-game via gil etc/buy on store' approach.

Having bought CREDD in Wildstar, Gem Cards in Guildwars 2, shelled out a little extra to Blizzard and SOE for cash shop items in the past. I have no problem putting up a couple extra dollars for something I want to have, its my choice and my choice alone. No complaints from me in this.

I can see the issue with how it affects ingame rewards because they can just place them on the cash shop. However, provided it stays vanity AND I see results with ingame content from the extra revenue I won't care. If I still end up having to deal with my FC essentially logging in for one day out of the week to complete content then I'll be really upset.

It's really simple. If people leave because they don't the cash shop, that means SE is generating less revenue from the game overall, which means they have to add more things into the cash shop. It's a slippery slope. Even if you like the Y'shtola minions, will you like it when they add their 'Superbowl 2015 celebration!' minion? When they release tacky items that break the lore and try to grab your attention at every turn? His analogy works perfectly, but I can see how someone who justifies anti-consumer practices would have a hard time understanding basic logic.

I don't even post on the forums, but damn, as soon as I hear this I decided to log in just to say how much I'm against it.

Paying for fantasia, retainers or world change is one thing, but mounts, minions and costumes are another completly; One of the things I liked to do in this game was to search for gear that I visually like and try to get it by playing the game, and that's one of the things I like in subscription based games, you can get everything by playing instead of just empting your pockets, or should be able to at least. By adding the cash shop, SE is taking away one of the reasons I to play this.

One way this could be less worse would be to make these vanity items obtainable someway by playing but giving the option to purchase it should someone wish to, although it still wouldn't change the fact that the right way to do it would still be: Or you open a cash shop or you keep the subscription model, doing both is disrespectful towards the consumer.

If I want an item in game i'll try for it till I get it. Same works for the optional cash shop. I have no real problem with what I saw listed being in the shops until I see some items that are not what I'd call vanity items. Like if for instance the mount have a 5% faster mount speed or such. Yes it's a slippery slope but there is a difference between playing on the edge and falling off it. So meh.

I'd almost say make the items obtainable in some way in game too but that would make some people flip out in crazy ways if someone can 'pay to win' an item they spent a week trying to get to drop.

Edit: As for the keep it sub only or full cash shop argument. That's a semi dumb argument when *usually* the cash shops are setup to pay for the extra people to work on just that. So your sub really isn't paying for any of the cash shop items. And no. The previous years items being put up there do not count.

Good. So do I. If you really can't break the bank to get a mount for a one time purchase of $19.99 (by Blizzard numbers), then save. Don't want to save? Not my problem. People just want to play the selfish card and be all: "I worked hard for this, it's mine to show off". Offer it to everyone for an optional payment (And a really minor one at that. Really.) and they flip.

It doesn't hurt anything. So long as nothing game breaking goes in there, or the stuff doesn't have a timer, why not? Everyone is free to use it. "I don't want it, just because" it really a stupid excuse.
